5Excellent product at a great price!!
By PapaRaver
I have been researching plasma screens for about a year before I finally decided on a Panasonic. I was headed towards the consumer model with all the options, (which was a Consumer Reports best buy and the top rated CNET plasma), but then I found this model. It's the professional version with the same screen. It comes with inputs for component, composite, s-video, and PC. You can order other input cards for HMDI or any other input device if you want it. It doesn't have speakers or a tuner, which is okay for me since I have a DVR and I use my surround system. All I needed was a great looking screen and this is it. I shopped around for pricing on all the shopping sites, and there are some shady places that sell opened boxes or reconditioned screens for a "better price". Some try the old bait and switch or try to sell you the massive extended warranty. Panasonic won't honor the warranty from some of these stores too! Beware! The best price from a reputable place is from Tiger Direct. I hadn't ordered from them before, but I figured I'd have Amazon's buyer protection if I needed it. They shipped my order the same day and it arrived six days later via ABF Freight. I had ordered a Peerless SF-660P wall mount for it that arrived the same day, thank goodness! (I got it from the Peerless Industries website, if you're interested.) Everything is perfect and I couldn't be happier with how this screen looks on my wall. It has the best picture of any screen I've looked at. I highly recommend it.

5Exceptional
By Brian J P
This is by far the best for the highest quality 50" HDTV that you can find. New model 8 replaces this one -- only difference is 1080p, in addition to the 1080i which this model 7 is capable of. I have looked for this size HDTV for 5 years and have found this to be superior to just about everything on the market...the one caveat is that this is just a TV screen (no speakers are included). The optional TV stand works very well if you do not wish to hang the unit. My purchase from Tiger Direct was flawless -- product arrived quickly and in perfect shape.

5Panasonic 50" Plasma 5 Year Followup
By Pocketchange
After hanging on my bedroom wall for a half-decade and looking at the current crop of new available displays, I'm not looking to improve this (old) selection..nothing equals this displays picture.I picked up a cheap ($100) Magnavox Blu-Ray from WalMart and after my first movie, I don't think being without 1080P is a big loss in the long run, especially after viewing the current offerings..Maybe when someone comes out with smell-o-vision?

5Extremely Satisfied
By Kevin C
We wanted to go bigger for a dedicated home theater in a new addition. We had a 52" Panasonic Plasma. I read a lot of specs and reviews and decided on this model when the price dropped for Black Friday. Since my standard for comparison was a nice 52" 1080 Panasonic plasma, I expected some compromise on image quality for this LED-technology set. Last weekend I hung it on the wall and watched a few movies. The set is easy to set up. I am using it for Blu Ray movies only and am not using the 'smart TV' features. I notice that it picked up the wireless network just fine as I skipped that step. I made some changes to the standard "movie" settings, mostly adjusting contrast and brightness to taste. I turned up sharpness, then realized it made the image grainy and turned it down some again. I didn't touch color temperature. Our viewing distance is roughly 12 feet, and the picture seemed downright stunning and at that distance made for a theater-like experience. I couldn't be more pleased with the picture quality of this economy level set. We watched the blu-ray of Prometheus, which has a lot of dark scenes in it, and it still looked great. I don't' know the Vizio record for reliability, but we got the 4 year warranty with it so I'm not going to worry about that for some time.I realize that since I am not using the built-in speakers or any of the smart-TV features this is a rather narrow review. I'm just saying if you're concerned that you're sacrificing picture quality by going with this Vizio unit, don't be.

5Blown away !
By Prabir Das
I purchased this TV after extensive research from Costco during the Black Friday sale and was initially a little skeptical about buying a Vizio. I have always been a Panasonic fan - have 3 plasmas that have great picture and have served me well over the years. The Vizio is the most affordable among the 70 inchers and when I compared the Sharp that happened to be right next to it at Costco, I did not see any noticeable difference. Bought the Vizio and could not be happier. I have been reading reviews and realize that folks have complained about lip-sync issues and washed out picture which probably means there are some quality issues. I bought the extended warranty from Costco just to be sure. But I must say, after calibrating it and playing with the settings, I am blown away. For $1500, you cannot beat it. I have a PS3 for my blu-rays and DVDs and Dish Network and have not found any faults with PQ. Believe me, I have looked hard and long and could not find anything to complain about. If you don't want to spend 2 grand or more on a 70 inch and still want great quality, this is the TV for you.

5Great TV for the price
By W. Luzzi
First off, after reading so many reviews for the Sharp 70" which I was so close to buying, I decided to go $1-200 cheaper than the cheapest Sharp model in the 70" lineup and buy the Vizio. I've always wanted to try Vizio because I've heard a lot of good things about them so I did after finding that this was only about 1 of 3 or 4 of the total 70" LCDs on the market from which to choose. My choices were very limited. I read much good and much bad about the Sharp image. So, after reading about the Vizio and finding less negatives for their model than for the Sharp, I went with Vizio.Sharp apparently has issues with the big ones that actually require professionals to come to the house to calibrate the image because buyers just can't make it look good no matter what they do. Many of those complaining about this were seemingly "qualified" to make the adjustments, having such extensive experience with LCDs. Also, I don't know what Sharp is doing with their model numbers but I swear, I had to (with a fine-tooth comb mind you) painstakingly go through the exact specifications of each of the models, and I think there were like 8 70" Sharp models to go through at rather dramatically different price points. Reading reviews for each, each had their own unique image issues even though they all had the same comments regarding not being able to adjust the picture to look good at all. By the time I was done with hours and hours of research over about 2 weeks, I basically gave up. That's why I was so happy to find the 70" Vizio.I may provide updates in the future. I've only had the TV running for about a week so I can only comment on so much at this point. If you have questions for me, or if you want me to test something for you, post a message and I'll reply. On CNET I read that the smaller version of this TV, the 60", likely performs worse that the 70" because they fixed an issue the 70" models that existed in the 60". They complained a lot about blacks not being true. That's important to me but I kept the faith and went with it anyway. Well, I'm not dissatisfied with the blacks at all. I keep my backlight at 100, contrast at 90 and brightness at 30 for a deep but very bright, excellently contrasted picture, and this helps the blacks be almost true. However, if I turn these setting higher, blacks are just a very dark gray so this may or may not apply to you depending upon the settings. My only complaint is about the white. This complaint would in NO WAY influence my decision to buy this Vizio, but it does exist and I think it's more of a size issue because I noticed the same thing on the Sharps when comparing them side by side in Best Buy. The 60" Sharp had the best pure white and was very bright. The 70" Sharp that I contemplated buying showed white as a very light blue that's just a hue, like the bluish you might see while looking at white glaciers. It was noticeably dimmer than the 60" Sharp. The 80" Sharp cinemawide was the dimmest with the greatest bluish hue whites. I would not buy that one. The picture just isn't good enough.I have the 70" Vizio side by side with the 37" Samsung running the same shows and the Samsung white is white (snow for instance was pure white on Samsung, bluish hue on Vizio). Given the Samsung's smaller size though, and, if the blueish hue is the result of the large size of the TV and edge-lit technology, that would make sense. I even turned the contrast, backlighting, and brightness to 100% on the Vizio and it was still bluish. However, oddly enough, while playing my PS3, I noticed that the whites were pure! Explain that! There goes anything that might cause the bluish hue to come from size (but it still seems apparent to me that size causes dimness, perhaps more so with the newer edge-lit technology). I don't know. I'm not an expert but after seeing all of the different things that can impact picture quality, I'm almost left with the thought, why bother? You've got the following things weighing in to what you're trying to compare: Screen size, picture settings, each TVs built-in technology (60 vs. 120Hz, 720i vs. 720p vs. 1080i vs. 1080p), whether the channel is in HD, what the program you're watching is shot in (non-HD, 720, 1080), streaming vs. non-streaming content (Netflix, Hulu, On Demand, etc.), bandwidth speed and the quality of your wired/wireless connection, whether on a gaming system or watching any of the above forms of programming, and the list goes on and on.Here are the settings on both the Vizio and Samsung I've been comparing 24/7:Backlight: 100Contrast: 90Brightness: 30Color: 50Tint: +5 on Vizio, 0 on Samsung in order to make skin tones and other colors match on both TVsSharpness: 100 (not always possible depending upon the channel and program where it's just too grainy)Noise Reduction: LowAfter seeing and researching all of this, and since it's impossible to compare apples with apples if you have the chance to do so when comparing TVs of different sizes, brands, technologies etc., I've come to the conclusion that you should just buy what you like after seeing it in person. I never saw the Vizio before I bought it but it's the best advice I can give in my opinion (I took a chance that paid off so far). Even when I change channels from HD to standard, some look horrible (even on the Samsung), and some look fantastic. How do you know what's supposed to look good when you have no idea what each channel change is going to do to your image? I would say on average, every other channel I change looks better on the other TV. Samsung excels in whites, and the Vizio seems to be more colorful and sharp in many programs.Other than that, although it's a smart TV with built-in wi-fi, there's no browser. It only has apps but a good selection: YouTube, Hulu, a Yahoo suite, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Rhapsody, Vudu, twitter, and Facebook. And other than that, for some reason, the menu is somewhat blurry even with the sharpness at 100. Strange but I really don't care since the actual picture doesn't look like that. I don't nit-pick on remote controls and ease of menu navigation. They work fine and the flip-over qwerty keyboard on the remote also works well. I have no other complaints at all so far.So the question is, am I happy with it so far? YES. Very happy for $1699, with the only issue being the white. I was a little upset to see it was offered at Costco for $1499 though! I thought I go the best deal in town :(Anyway, if you're really anal about detailed specifics in picture quality and whatnot, knock yourself out trying to determine what to buy. After this experience I'm done with all of it. Support a company that you know is established, tried and true, which you've had good experience with in the past, see and compare the images in person before buying (even if you ultimately buy it online) and buy from them.Again, I'd be happy to set up tests for you with your own settings and give you my opinion. Hope I've made your research easier, and happy shopping!-

5Wait, what? $400? duh. done.
By Carter
I did all the research. Read pretty much the whole cnet site. Read the excellent wirecutter.com. Every single word written about tv's lately says plasmas have better picture quality, dollar for dollar. Every single review says at 42" the 720 resolution is fine. So, ok, I decided I wanted a budget plasma, I don't need any 'smart' features, and don't think 3D is worth my time yet. The 2012 Samsung PN43E450 kept coming up as a good value. I also considered the Panasonic line, particularly the TC-P50U50. Also considered a low featured good value TV. Picture quality is my main concern. It is a TV after all.So I set about finding the Samsung in stock locally so I could check it out. Went to BestBuy, Walmart, Sears, and Target. Yeah, I know, I am crazy. And I am a person that loathes big box stores. Anyway, I finally found myself at a BestBuy that had the old Samsung, the Panasonic, AND this one. This one made me nervous because there are simply zero reviews out there for it. So doing a little snooping about and I think this is simply just the 2013 version of the PN43E450.So standing there in store with all these TV's blasting all around is a serious mind game. The plasmas look dull compared to the LED's, the 42" looks small compared to the 50's, and the 720 looks pixelated compare to the 1080p's. Look the salesmen say as they put their faces a foot from the screen, you can see the pixels on the 720 vs 1080. Stand back and the LEDs are glowing like beacons in the dark. How is one supposed to choose the cheap ass plasma over the other more expensive choices? Finally, after agonizing over a stupid TV for way too long, my budget conscious brain won. Maybe the first time ever, but it did. I bought the cheap, dull, small one.Holy Sh--! This TV is amazing! Set it up in my living room and it feels absolutely gigantic, the picture is gorgeous, and it is plenty bright enough. Yes, I know, the other TVs are bigger, better, and with more features. I will eventually get used to the size and will probably want bigger, and dropping $1000-$2000 will get me a super duper TV (hear me Apple?) but the point is, that this is simply an excellent TV when judged on its own merits. 400 bucks and you have got a damn good TV.

5Great TV!
By sheaitisnotso
Picked this tv up after my 47" Philip's LCD display broke after less than 2 years. After that happened I kept my research for a replacement to the most reliable companies like LG, Vizio, and Samsung. The previous model for this Samsung has great reviews but I was always a bit sceptical being a Plasma and only 720p. I went around to Best Buy, WalMart, etc. to get a true feel for the displays of these tv's and honestly I was blown out of the water with how good the Plasma picture was compared to LCDs of the same size. This tv hands down beats the 1080p of my 47" Philip's and it's not even close (maybe a blessing in disguise that it broke on me). So I was looking through the Best Buy ads for any March Madness deals and noticed that they had the newest model of this TV, now the 4500, and for the same price as the old one at $399.My biggest recommendation for any new tv buyers, don't let the 720p turn you away from looking at a tv like this. The picture is fantastic! Also since we have an Appletv for Netflix and Hulu, this fit the bill and there was no need for a smart tv. I've also picked up a 4 year squaretrade warranty so I look forward to enjoying it for a long time.

5Budget HDTV is a winner!
By M. Adler
When you see this TV in stores it may turn you off (on energy saver setting in stores) as other reviewers state but for $400 and 43 inches there is no better deal. Post tweaking, unlike in stores colors are vibrant, motion is handled well and blacks are good. Stand seems cheap and whites are just OK. In absolute terms this is 4 stars but adjusting for price it is a great deal for bedroom or smaller entertainment center. IMHO will beat any entry level LED TV near its price, plasma is far from dead.

5BEST EVER PIONEER 150FD-PRO "KURO"
By David P. Biasco Jr.
Pioneer Elite Pro-150FD 60' Plasma HDTV Pioneer Electronics announced a mandate to reengineer its plasma technology "from the ground up." The result is a new series of plasma display panels that the company has dubbed "Kuro," which is the Japanese word for "black." An HDTV that produces deeper, darker blacks offers better contrast and a more colorful picture than those that cannot, and the 60-inch Pioneer Elite KURO PRO-150FD delivers black levels like no other set I've seen. In addition, the PRO-150FD's new video processor is the best I've seen for all HD sources; it minimizes distracting artifacts without sacrificing detail. If you're looking for the most pleasing plasma you can buy, and you can afford the steep $7,500 price, the PRO-150FD fills the bill and thus it earns our Editors' Choice award.

4Odd setup, fantastic picture quality
By C. Muckelroy
I was skeptical about this TV since it's not an LED model, just a standard lamp-lit LCD. However, it's 1080p is crystal clear, brilliant, and incredibly bright. The TV itself is pretty thin, and not too heavy. I was frustrated with how dark it was, until I changed the "Eco" setting. With "eco" on, the TV adjusts its brightness to ambient light, but even if you go into brightness settings, you can't increase the max lamp brightness. You must turn this mode off, and only then will the lamps light up like they should. Now it's crisp, clear, bright, and even the audio sounds better! In addition, this has a USB port for playing MP3 files, and photo slideshows. However, the interface for the music player is downright archaic and borderline unusable. Having to load MP3s and photos on a flash drive and use the interface provided to play the music on the USB port is a flat-out joke. You're better off grabbing an Apple TV or something to stream your music wirelessly to this TV.Pros:-- Fairly light-- Easy to set up-- Remote is good and simple-- Excellent picture quality-- 3 HDMI portsCons:-- Only 1 component and composite video input-- "Eco" mode on by default. Need to turn this off to get desired brightness.-- Audio quality of built-in speakers is kinda muddy. (A non-issue if you have your own separate speaker system.)-- Power cable WAY too short. (but I had an identical one on a different device in the house which was much longer, which worked. It's a standard power cable.)-- USB port music player and photo slideshow feature is functional but archaic, ugly, and difficult to use.

1Wake up, Samsung (Peeling Issue)
By J. Reed
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3G47IHBDYVZM2 I purchased this marvelous television after countless research and first-hand looks at B&M stores. The PN597000 is a slight step-down from Samsung's flagship 8000 model, but it's also plagued with the same issues, most notably a "peeling" issue.Samsung devised a solution to eliminate most of the glare from the 7000/8000 series sets, calling it the Real Black Filter. The RBF is a sheet of thin plastic laminated on the inside of the front set glass to mitigate glare caused by direct incoming light for those rooms with a lot of ambient light present. Kind of like a tint for a car window. Is it effective? Yes.Does it at a huge price? Absolutely. You see, what Samsung failed to predict and discover - and, more disturbingly, what they refuse to acknowledge even at this stage - is that this plastic sheet can PEEL on its own from the inside, possibly due to the considerable heat generated from the plasma set, creating air bubbles within the screen itself that will only EXPAND during the course of time, distorting or otherwise ruining the television.I've learned about the peeling issue before getting the television set, since it seemed not everyone was having this issue (although a great number were). I thoroughly inspected my television around the edge using a flashlight and found no signs of peeling. It wasn't until after 100 hours of breaking in the plasma did I notice a slight distortion on the top right corner of my set, and it was as I feared: my set was peeling.I'm still one week into the purchase of this television, and I will undoubtedly return it toward the tail end of my 30-day exchange window as my television's newfound problem will only accelerate over the course of time. Every report I've heard from other owners with this issue seem to indicate that matters will only get worse from here.I urge both current and potential buyers to research this matter before it's too late. I will exchange my set for a newer model, but I have very little hope that the new machine will not suffer from the same issue as my current one as the problem is inherit in the design of the set and not a mere random defection.UPDATE: 07/09/2011 - A second peeling (air bubble) has appeared, this time on the top left corner of the screen.UPDATE 2: 07/27/2011 - Just received my replacement TV from Amazon (Love you, Amazon!), and am currently in the process of breaking it in. By this time, Samsung has discovered the underlying cause of the peeling issue. Apparently, the television's bezel is pressed too closely against the black filter, and needs to be separated slightly more. A solution has been devised and, from my understanding, Samsung will fix or replace any TV suffering from peeling issues with an updated panel provided that it's still under warranty. Unfortunately, they won't replace existing stock of their TVs with revised models, so new customers might still face this issueUPDATE 3 (11/24/11): Second TV has not shown any initial signs of peeling or bubbling. I attribute this more to luck than anything else as the TV was built around the same time as the original defective one, and Samsung didn't address the issue at the point of the purchase. I've read that, in some cases, signs of peeling might won't surface until months later, and some owners are SOL as a result since the peeling occurred after the expiration of the warranty. I'll post another update in 3 months (or sooner if any unfortunate developments occur). If it can last a year without any problems, I'll upgrade my rating.

5Excellent Plasma
By David A. Oliver
I just got the TV and have had it 2 days. My other TV's are a 42in Samsung LCD and a 50in sony rear proj. LCD.I read about plasma vs. LED and went for the plasma. It is in the livingroom which has full height glass windows on one side. We get direct morning sun as windows face S/E.I bought the set over internet shipped free. Need 2 people to move very large box into home. Need 2 people to hang the set. I unboxed and mounted hanger by myself. If considering plasma, here are my comments:1. 3D is excellent. Get the largest set you can afford/ fit in home.2. Picture on this set is very very good. Very vivid, yet realistic color and contrast.3. Remote is good, but not a high end look. Possibly because many use other combo remotes.4. Glare is not an issue. The sony used to be in livingroom and glare was more of an issue.5. Off axis viewing is outstanding. 2D excellent. 3D excellent from any angle.6. I bought the light rechargeable 3D glasses. Easy setup. Comfortable. OK over your perscrip. glasses, but not great.7. TV looks great. Thin, high quality.8. I mounted this set on new Walker Edison 60-Inch Cayenne TV Stand (black laquer and black glass). They are made for each other!! Looks great and size of stand fits perfect (width) with TV. TV "floats" above table- mounted on the stand's rear pedestal.9. Network/ wifi works good. Allshare works but sometimes buggy, as playing videos can abruptly stop (sometimes). I am still figuring the wifi and remote out. Plaing music through the wifi or network to livingroom is so cool.10. I do not hear buzzing unless audio is off and my ear is very close. And I only heard once when setting up system. Buzzing to me is not an issue. I don't hear/ notice buzzing.11. Fast motion picture is excellent. No artifacts, no ghosting that I have noticed. 2D and 3D.Update - 6/26/11. Still love this set. No screen peeling issue.Update - 10.6.11. No screen peeling. Love the set.

5Beautiful TV (updated)
By T. Black
Background:I come from the land of LCD, and I have had this TV for about a month. This replaced a several year old Sharp Aquos 37" LCD. As is typical with electronics, this 51" brand new 2011 plasma costs significantly less than my 37" 2 year old (at the time) refurbished model.I have limited space, and my choices to fill it included the LG 47" LED TV's, Samsung 46"LED TV's, and the Samsung 51" Plasmas. (Just for the record, an LED TV is just an LCD with LED lights behind it instead of flourescent bulbs. I use the term LED TV only because it's easier to type and read than LED-backlit LCD TV.) While I would have preferred an LED TV for my situation (which is a very bright room), The LG's were not impressive. Though the Samsung LED's were (to my eyes) the best looking TV's on display at my local BB, 51" is a lot larger than 46 and the seating is about 17' away from the TV. The new 2011 "Plus 1" models add an inch of screen, but are actually smaller overall. In other words, last year's 50" would not fit but the 51" would (barely!). Panasonic 50" would not fit either due to a larger bezel.Buying on Amazon:If you are a Prime member, keep in mind that this will not reach your house in 2 days. It will ship by freight, not UPS or Fedex. Mine arrived in less than a week on a mostly empty truck and the driver helped me bring it into my house. It was obviously well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Well of course the price immediately went down after I bought it, so I took advantage of the price matching policy. Amazon has a list of retailers that it will match and you have 14 days to do it. Once again Amazon impresses in their customer service. Many other retailers do include other goodies like glasses or a Blu-ray player as a bundle though.Setup:After you turn it on, you go through a step-by-step setup process. The first question is whether you are a consumer or a big box store. It then adjusts the picture settings for home viewing as opposed to trying to look like the brightest one in the store. Nice! I went through the network setup (wireless works fine), and it learned my channels with no problem. It actually picked up many digital (cable) channels that I wasn't getting before through the old TV, so that is great. Haven't tried OTA channels at this point.-Screen burn in/break in: Since I am new to plasma, I am a bit paranoid about screen burn in and image retention (IR). During the initial setup, ghost images of some of the menu screens remained for a few minutes. I burned a break-in DVD that cycles through full-screen solid color for 24 hours and ran it whenever I wasn't watching TV for the first 3-4 days. I won't make any comments on burn in yet, but I have played some Xbox/Wii and haven't had any issues yet. There is a feature in one of the menus that will display scrolling vertical bars that transition from white to black. No evidence yet of any permanent burn in or IR yet.-Heat: Plasmas have come a long way since I was shopping for my old LCD. Used to be they would dim the lights and heat the whole house when you turned them on, but new models are much more efficient. This one gets pretty warm in the cabinet but not hot enough to be a concern. The Good:-The sound from the internal speakers is actually quite good, surprisingly. I wouldn't want to do any serious movie watching without 5.1 surround, but for TV shows it is adequate.-The picture: Brightness is much better than my old LCD, but significantly less than today's LED TV's. That being said, I have a wall of south facing windows behind the couch which is opposite the TV. The picture is bright enough during the day to watch, but still looks much better at night when the room lighting is dimmed.-Picture settings: I put in my old Avia HT setup dvd and went to the picture settings. The TV seemed to match pretty well right out of the box. There are boatloads of picture options though, more than enough to baffle the average user (myself included). This thing is ready to be professionally calibrated, if that's your thing.-I hear lots of complaints about TV's not displaying standard definition material well. Okay, you have to understand what you're watching. If you crank up your old VCR, it is still going to look like an old VHS tape. This TV does an excellent job of upscaling poor quality content on the large screen.-I have done some gaming, and have not noticed any lag.-3D. I have done some research but have not tried out any 3D content yet. The glasses have gone as low as thirty-six dollars lately! The glasses for 2011 samsungs are bluetooth instead of IR. The TV has 2D>3D conversion capability with a dedicated button on the remote. I've got 2 pairs of glasses on order, and will update after I get to check out the 3D features.-Lots of online content. Checked out the YouTube app last night, pretty slick. It's not the equivalent of having a full browser interface, but I was able to find what I want and watch several relevant clips. Hulu demo clips looked excellent, but frequently buffered on my wireless connection.-Cable channels display quickly, and you can quickly switch through channels without waiting for them to display. You can delete channels you don't want, though they make this a bit of a tedious process. You can mark favorites, so a star will show up up by the channel number when you are surfing. One thing I haven't figured out is how to quickly surf just your favorites--but you can get to them deep in the channel menu. The Bad: (mostly minor gripes except the first 3)-There are no analog audio outputs from this TV! Unless I'm missing something, you can't pipe analog sound from this TV to your receiver. It does have an optical port for outputting digital sound, but I never found a channel that I could listen to on the home theater. If someone knows otherwise, please let me know with a comment--Thanks!-The glossy finish: The glass front does reflect a good bit of light from the windows behind the couch. I got the 7000 model for the "Real Black Filter" (listed above as "Rel black filter"), which is a polarized screen filter. I would definitely prefer the matte finish of my old Sharp Aquos, but nearly every current model has a glossy finish.-The front panel buttons: The power, source, menu, channel and volume buttons are printed in grey-black ink on a glass background, and are touch sensitive. If it is dark behind your TV then good luck seeing which is which, even within a few inches of them. I use the power button, since it is the furthest to the left and I can slide my finger along the bottom until I get it, but the other buttons are useless since you can't distinguish them from the rest of the glass panel. Also, when I'm working on anything behind the TV my arm always hits the very sensitive power button repeatedly and causes additional frustration. At least the remote is decent, but my fancy learning remote refused to learn several of the commands.-Hulu "plus" - Just for the record, this is hulu, "plus" a bill for $8/month (but you do get access to older episodes). I'll stick to plugging in my laptop and watching it for free, thanks.-To search in youtube, you type in text using the 1-9 keys like a phone. This would be easier if they found a way to put the letters onto the remote's 1-9 keys. It is displayed on the screen but not on the remote. This is a minor gripe though, since it does a good job of figuring out what you are typing and giving suggestions.-Volume is a bit slow to change. If you switch from a quiet channel (or youtube video) with the volume on 50 to a loud one, it can take several seconds to get the volume down to a 20-25 using the remote. Volume levels vary widely on youtube, not so bad on cable. The bottom line:If you go to a big box store to compare, the Samsung TV's definitely stand out amongst the competition, the LED's in particular. I am very happy with my plasma, but if I had unlimited space I would have loved a 55" LED. If you have a very bright room, go for either a LED TV or the 7000 series Plasma with the real black filter.I will have to do a bit more playing around to learn all of the features and perfect my picture settings, and I will update the review as I learn more. Please feel free to comment if you want me to check something...I'll try to help if I can.**UPDATE**Still nothing but pleased with this TV, but after changing the viewing mode to Dynamic (*not* energy star), the TV gets quite warm with extended use. I am getting a small USB fan to help cool it, and considering switching back to standard mode to reduce energy use/heat. The good thing is that the metallic bezel seems to absorb much of the heat. This helps disperse some of the heat out of the front in addition to venting the back.**UPDATE**I found a happy medium between Dynamic (energy hog) and Standard (energy star) picture modes and applied it to all of my inputs. Basically, I start with Dynamic but reduce the cell light down to 16 and neutralize the color temperature. The energy star setting is much dimmer (12?), the dynamic setting is 20 (the max). 16 is still plenty bright but the panel doesn't get quite as hot. I would also mention that movie mode results in a very soft (less defined) and warm (more red) image. It enhances skin color I guess, but I prefer a more natural color and definitely like to see all of the detail in HD sources.
