5Stunning
By Gadgester
Another member of Sharp's unbeatable LCD TV family:1. Great LCD panel: 32" diagonal, vivid colors, stunning clarity, very good black-level quality, no dead pixels (cheaper brands often have dead pixels)2. Great styling: looks absolutely beautiful, in the living room or bedroom or your fancy bathroom3. Lots of inputs: digital inputs, component inputs, PC input. HDTV tuner is not built-in, though, so you'll need a separate HDTV tuner, which is fine since you likely need to get an HDTV cable or satellite service like VOOM anyway4. Simplicity: the set-top connector box hides all the wires5. Easy to set up and useBTW, the "32GD4U" model (with a D) has a built-in HDTV tuner, but it's also hundreds more. This present model (without the HDTV tuner) is definitely the better value.

5incredible picture, tons of connections
By Walter J. Davis
I have had this TV for about a month. I love the picture. Many adjustment modes, 2 digital inputs on the av box(a separate box that houses all connections) and a very easy remote to learn. The picture is great for hi-def TV and progressive scan DVD. It has a real depth to the picture. I have not noticed any artifact on DVD or sports. This TV also appears much bigger to people than 32 inches(38 with speakers). Digital cable or Direct Tv are a a must have, along with a progressive scan or HDMI/DVI Dvd player. Ideally the HDMI/DVI player for the best Dvd playback.Update 1/10/06I have had the set over a year, and 3 of my pals with expensive plasma's have bought this as a "second set." Great clear, eyepopping picture from HD sources. The separate box has worked well. I can plug all kinds of things into it without any trouble. Many LCD's are catching up to Sharp, but why kick a winner! Even if you do not choose this LCD, spend the extra for a good name brand. I have seen so many second tier LCD's that artifact during fast motion, push certain color ranges(calibrate people!) and have other annoying faults that pop up. Sharp, Sony, LG, are LCD's I have personally seen in a home setting and looked great. Not to say others are bad, but I only list Brands I have seen in home.

5Thumbs up
By DR Moussey
Please, see my review of the 30 inch model, for details on the Aquos family of Lcd Tv sets. The 32 inch actually looks signficantly bigger than the 30 inch model. Is it worth the extra money? I'm not sure, but Sharp's Aquos line is without doubt the best. My belief is, if you are going to spend a lot of money, might as well get the best so you don't disappointed.

Product Description

Sony's 46-inch Hi-Scan 1080i KP-46WT520 is equipped to turn your living room or board room into a movie theater. The set uses Sony's HD Microfocus CRT and lens system, featuring smaller phosphor particles, thinner phosphor layers, and other improvements that give the set a beam spot 28-percent smaller than Sony's standard CRTs. And that means sharper focus, higher contrast, and brighter images. The screen features a wide, 16:9 aspect ratio that matches the dimension of most movies and HDTV broadcasts, and the KP-46WT520 is compatible with standard-definition 480i, enhanced-definition 480p, and high-definition 720p and 1080i sources.

5The BEST value for the money!
By Method2Madness "Alex"
Right off the bat I can, with a straight face and calm hands, say this is THE best television I have EVER owned! And probably one of the best I have ever seen! I have been in the A/V industry for a while and pretty much consider myself an A/V guru. I have been through and previewed countless televisions as I am constantly upgrading and none compare to this one. When I was shopping for an HD widescreen, as most do, I factored in price, features and most of all quality. I did NOT want to spend thousands of dollars on something that would not be worth the initial investment. That being said, I looked into the LCD and CRT rear projection market, with a strong lean towards CRT projection. Now, I expected there to be a signifigant difference in picture between the CRT projectors and the LCD/DLP/LCOS units. I was wrong. Dead wrong. While some of the higher dollar sets apppeared to be a LITTLE sharper, the price to performance ratio was NOT justifiable and this set even bested a couple DLP units! Also the LCD units are basically charging more for a VERY similar picture! The only REAL benefit of the "other" formats is....weight! Honestly!Bottom line: Super clear picture(ESPECIALLY with an HD source), great on features and the price is perfect. There is NO reason to spend more on a technology that is still getting the kinks out.

5Excellent Home Cinema
By Lou Goodman
If you really love the theatrical eperience and don't want to invest that much money on those Plasma systems, this is an excellent option. Sony gives their best in a High Definition Wide Screen Wega Projection TV. You just have to plug in your home theater and you need nothing more. It is full of very easy to use functions and the image looks really sharp, if you can get a High Definition DVD you will be amazed, the image looks awsome. In addition of this TV, I recommend you to buy the matching SONY TV stand, the model number is SU-46WT11, this would really complete your purchase!

5Love this TV...
By ThisThatNEverything
This Wide Screen Projection TV is really awesome & has many special features to it & you don't have to be a genius to figure it out. Some of the features that I really like:There is a choice of 4 different viewing modes, which is a really nice. There is a Side By Side viewing option that allows you to watch 2 different shows at a time & it's very easy to switch back & fourth between the 2 & you can adjust the size to make 1 large & the other small if you want.I love the Favorite Channels button that you can program your favorite channels & when you are watching a show you press favorites & a little box will pop up & you can switch through stations on that little box to see if something else is on & if so you just select it. Basically you are able to see what else is on without interrupting your current show. The Freeze button is neat because if something is on the screen such as a phone number that you want to write down or something you can press freeze & another screen will pop up with that frozen screen & your show will continue on in the other box.The picture is really great on this TV as well as the sound so I recommend this TV to anybody.

5Purchased this baby on July 13, 2007 and...
By DBroncos 4 Life
This is my initial review of this television after owning it for about three days. What I love:Watching Blu-Ray in 1080P is just spectacular! I own a PS3 and have a 1.3a HDMI cable for connection and the picture is superb. I watched "The Prestige" and "Casino Royale" in 1080P and was blown away. No pixelation or judder during fast-moving action scenes and the colors and details were impressive. This is clearly what this TV was designed to do. No complaintsI played Ninja Gaiden Sigma(720P) on PS3 and it looked amazing. The background was so beautiful I couldn't even play the game. I was just staring at the details and vivid colors. Once I have broken-in this TV (at least 100-200hrs) I will play more games. I get nervous about image retention. However, this TV comes with "Pixel Shift" which is supposed to help prevent this problem. Also, there are several built-in programs that will help alleviate the problem if, God forbid, there is image retention. I like that very much and it is a nice feature. I talked to an ISF-trained tech from a local store and he told me with these new plasmas that you would have to leave an image for several hours for "burn-in" to occur. He also said that there is no "break-in" period like I said above, but that I should NEVER use the DYNAMIC picture setting because it will turn your plasma into toast. So take this for what it's worth. I am being very cautious with my $3000 newborn. What I like:I have DirecTV HD service and the picture is VERY NICE. There is some pixelation during extremely fast action or explosions, but trust me that is the crappy satellite feed and NOT the plasma. No complaints here. What I think is OK:The SD channels are good, but not great. It definitely varies from channel to channel and this, again, may just be DirecTV. Don't get me wrong they are MUCH better than on my Samsung LCD, just not amazing or anything. I am so spoiled. It's funny, you'll be watching a show in SD and the picture is not so good and then it goes to commercial and they look awesome. I guess what they say is true "Garbage in, Garbage out."Other observations:I only listened to the sound for about 10 minutes because I have 7.1 surround, but it sounded good and that is all I will comment on that.I read that the pevious model Samsung 5054/64 has problems with judder or skipping frames with tickers(CNN,ESPN,etc.) on the bottom of the screen. I don't see this problem and I am LOOKING for it big-time. Nothing that I can detect. Do not worry about this cause it is not a problem.Sorry about the long review, but I know there is not much out there on this one. I can't wait to see what the fellas/gals at CNET or CR have to say. Good Luck and feel free to ask me about anything specific.Update Jan. 7, 2008I have had this tv for 6 months now and I have no regrets. I will say that it can get very hot and doubles as a heater. Especially after watching for several hours. But it is a minor annoyance. The picture is still fantastic and I would put it up against a Pioneer Kuro anyday. It will absolutely destroy a Panasonic. They are very good plasmas, but I would go with SAMSUNG everytime. I saw the price has dipped below $2000 for this set now. People, if you want a 50" 1080p Plasma, DO NOT WAIT. THIS IS YOUR SET. I love it and it is my baby...You can thank me later.

5When I turned it on, I simply said...WOW.
By RW
After a significant amount of research and a post in response to one of the other great reviews here on Amazon regarding this product, I decided to take the plunge. I was looking for a TV that had the following qualitites: 1080P, 3 HDMI inputs a beautiful piano gloss black casing and a reasonable value (Pioneer Elite need not apply). I went to BB to look at all of the TV's both plasma and LCD "side by side." Because I watch mostly sports, I badly needed a smooth picture during fast action. I noticed that even the good LCD's still have frequent pixelization. I decided to go back to a different BB just to double check and I did indeed see the same thing.I have had 2 Panasonic plasma TV's in the past and they were very good, but the Panasonic 1080P model that has 3HDMI inputs is significantly overpriced and just not as physically appealing as the Samsung. When I turned on the TV and switched to an HD channel, I literally said, "WOW." outloud. The difference in brightness, detail, clarity, and picture smoothness were evident immediately over the 50" Panasonic that I had purchased only 6 months ago! I was immediately thrilled with my purchase. After hooking it up to a Toshiba Up-Converting DVD player, I was amazed once again. The picture on this TV is absolutely amazing. Even my wife, who is not a techie, noticed immediately how wonderful the picture is.Positives:-It's hard to imagine a better picture.-3HDMI inputs-1080P capability-Beautiful Piano Gloss Black finish-Great stand that is piano gloss black and also swivels-Very reasonable price point for 1080P-1 Set of inputs on side of TVNegatives:-The speakers are on the side for a cleaner look and the sound is horrible. It's downright bad. Use your surround sound system.-To go from one source to the next you must press the source button several times vs. pressing it and choosing which source you want through directionals on remote.

5Absolutely worth every penny......
By Amanda M. Hamblin
First I would like to say that SD channels do not look very good on this set. But unlike some reviewers, I know this is to be expected. Whenever you have a 480i/p image, spread over 50 inches of screen, and over 2 million pixels, it's a no-braner that quality is going to suffer. So, just deal with it until all or the majority of channels are fed in HD.Now, to the review. First, HD quality is phoenominal, as expected. I have directv and the uality is great. But this pales in comparison to Blue-ray quality. It is razor sharp and superbly colored, even at factory settings. Bottom line is, if you understand that SD on such a Hi-Res and Large screen, is going to be poor, you'll be extremely happy with you're purchase. If you expect every channel to look like a Blue-Ray movie, you'll be very disappointed.Secondly, you need to understand formatting. You're likely going to have to stretch you're image on you're screen. Unless the movie you're watching is in a certain format, it will NOT fill the entire screen. This brings us back to the poor SD quality. If you fill the screen, the image will be stretched in order to do so. This makes the SD quality even worse. But you can't blame the TV, it's the television stations and broadcasters, who are still broadcasting in such a low res, poor quality, that is to blame.Thirdly, the set is a plasma. It draws lots of power and puts out alot of heat. But this is normal for a large plasma television. So don't be alarmed.Fourthly, the anti-glare coating Samsung uses in this set is outstanding. I have very little to no glare at all from my lamps/windows. I'm very pleased with this.Fifthly, the sound from the set sucks. Don't buy this and run sound through them. You're movie/viewing experience will suffer greatly. Get a decent surround setup, with a good subwoofer and you'll be very pleased with you're overall experience.Lastly, like all high end sets, this tv is at the mercy of the quality of the signal being fed. Give it a high res source, and you'll be floored by the quality of picture. Blacks are very black and 1080P through Blue-Ray is untouchable.Overall, fantastic value. Excellent features, near perfect picture.

4Good TV, but a few things you should know ...
By WorknMan
Just a few things you should know before buying this TV, or any rear projection HDTV in general:1. If you live nearby a brick and mortar store that carries this TV, see if they will let you hook a DVD player up to it, and then get the TV out of 'torch mode' by lowering the brightness and contrast (easily done via the remote) to about 50 - this will give you a much better idea of how it will look in your home. Also, when you get the TV home, bringing it out of torch mode is the first thing you should do, as leaving these settings cranked up to the max could damage your TV. If you see this thing on display in a store, they usually have it connected to an HD signal running at 1080i, the best resolution possible. Movies on DVD will not look *quite* that good.2. These TVs don't exactly come ready to watch, as they require a little tweaking, especially this TV, as it tends to have a 'red push' that you'll need to get rid of. Doing this is not exactly brain surgery, and the Avia Home Theater guide (also available on Amamzon) is a big help, but you should at least be aware of this.3. Burn-in: While not as bad as Plasma TVs when it comes to image burn-in, you must be consciously aware (but not paranoid) about the possibility of burn-in with this set. If you're the type of person who likes to play video games (which usually display a lot of static images, such as health meters), for hours on end, you may want to go with an LCD or DLP rear projection TV, if you can afford one :) Otherwise, a direct view (conventional) CRT HDTV may be better for you.4. If you plan to use a component video cable for DVD playback, some people will say that the kind of cable you use doesn't matter. While the kind of cable you use does not matter on other TVs, it DEFINITELY matters on this one. From my experience, there was a HUGE difference in picture quality between a set of $30 Acoustic Research cables and a $100 set of Monster Ultra THX cables. After trying the Monster cables, I ordered a set of component cables from www.bluejeanscable.com, which are about as good as the Monster cables for a much lower price. Even if you elect to start out with a cheap cable, you should look into upgrading the cable if you notice the picture quality is not as it should be.5. There is no HDTV tuner built into this set, which means you'll either have to buy the tuner seperate ($200+) or get one from your cable or satellite company, which will usually provide one for you. You don't need a tuner simply for watching DVDs though.6. About the look of the TV - previous reviewer said it doesn't look like the one in the picture. Actually, it looks very close, except Amazon shows the TV sitting on its optional stand - the bottom part of the TV is actually one piece, not two. If you want to see what it really looks like, search for the model number on www.bestbuy.com.7. In regards to what the previous reviewer says about room size, since I have the TV in a small room, I don't think the size of the room matters, just as long as you're setting at least 6-8 feet from the set.8. For more information about these topics and more, check out www.hdtvoice.com.Hopefully, I didn't scare you away with all of this info, because this is probably the best 46" CRT rear projection HDTV you'll find in this price range - I highly recommend it!

4The big picture
By Rusty Shackleford
After watching a 25inch G.E.for the last ten years,I wanted to move up to wide-screen T.V.Checking prices in circulars, then reviews on-line,brought me to the toshiba 46H83.Iwound up getting the 46H84 for the same price, and have not been able to figure out what the difference is between the two.The salesperson told me the'84 is a newer model. The picture on amazon for the'84 is not representative of the set.It actually looks exactly like the'83,and that's fine by me.I love the way it looks in my living room. You need a good-sized room to truly appreciate this set.The picture is sharp and bright for a projection T.V. DVD's look crisp and clean, using component video cables, and the sound is good enough that I only use my digital receiver for blockbuster flicks, and then it's total immersion time. For the cost-conscious,this set is energy star compliant. One caveat is that for best viewing one should be at least 8 feet away from the set,so it's not for small rooms.

5what more do you need?
By Fisher Man
If you are looking at this unit, you are probably like me. A first time, budget-minded HDTV buyer. I researched many units, and decided to go with this one because it was on sale for $999.Picture with HD: With HD (through Comcast) it is awesome. My friend has a TV that he spent $4000 on, and he says that he can't notice a difference in picture crispness.Picture without HD: It is at least as good as what I had on my 27" TV prior to this. It ain't crisp, but it is very acceptable for a TV this large.I do notice some "artifacts" on this TV. If you are looking at this level of unit to buy, you probably don't even know what that means. I didn't! It means that you see some "streaking" of white on fast moving images. It happens so rarely, though, that you won't notice much. The TV has some great stretch settings, too. I was worried that any signal coming in at 4:3 would look distroted when I stretch it to 16:9, but this unit has a setting that only stretches the top and bottom, removing letterboxes but not distorting the main pic. It also has one that stretches left and right, making 4:3 fill the screen without distrotion. The sound is better than the sound from my 27" unit. It is all I need for my small room, until I get a surround system.Inputs: It does have an HDMI input. I'm told that is the top of the line input. I run my cable and DVD via the component inputs for ultra clear pic.In short, get this TV. For the price, I have absolutely no regrets!

5Boy, was I pleasently surprised!
By M. K. Russell
I began my search for an LCD HDTV/Monitor over a month ago and purchased 4 other similar items before purchasing this ViewSonic VT2430 and returned the previous 4 for poor performance. I was actually looking for a unit which included a DVD player for use in training lectures. But, I couldn't find the right combination so I decided to settle on a unit without the DVD player, since those that are built in are all cheap players. This way, by keeping the TV and the DVD player separate I can always update the player as needed (BlueRay!). I looked at a LOT of HDTV/Monitors and chose the VT2430 for its native 1920x1080 pixel resolution. This works out perfectly with the 1920x1080i signals coming via my cable. And...the pictures are absolutely stunning! More so than I even expected, even already knowing the quality of Viewsonic monitors. And there are plenty of options for modifying and managing the images from all inputs. One reason for returning a Toshiba unit was that it's native resolution is 1680x1050 pixels, which, when fed a 1920x1080 pixel signal (HDTV) stretches the image vertically...without any way of correcting the distortion. In fact, the manual states that "image size adjustments are not available with 720i and 1080i signals"! VERY poor planning as most cable signals are either 790i or 1080i. The PC image obtained with the VT2430 is absolutely awesome. I'm typing this review with this monitor with the resolution set at 1920x1080, a perfect match with my PC. There are at least 10 other resolution settings that work as well - just lower resolution results. Regardless of the resolution sent from my PC, the VT2430 automatically adjusts for the best picture with each setting. Very neat. The audio was another problem I found with all of the other units I tried. Most of them were either too low in volume or, when the volume was turned up became very distorted. Not so with the VT2430. Plenty of clean sound at all volume settings, including loud enough for filling the rooms where I do my training. The image I get from my (LG) DVD player, which upgrades to a 1080i output via an HDMI cable, is very good. I also have a BlueRay player which puts out a 1080p signal, which, again, perfectly matches the resolution of the VT2430, for a beautiful picture. The overall picture of this monitor is far more accurate, clean, and viewable than any of the other monitors I looked at. The dynamic range is very wide, including the darker colors and grays and blacks, not quite up to my 52-in Samsung (Over $2,300!), but closer than any other comparable sized monitor. Physically, I like the fact that the monitor can be tilted back for watching from higher positions. Also, the flat stand can be quickly removed for transporting in its original box, which I do often when I'm training.Great monitor. I would recommend it to anyone. I would, however, downgrade its rating by 1/2 point for not having a DVD player. But, that is not what it is! ViewSonic does sell an LCD HDTV/DVD Combo monitor, but it has a lower pixel rate designed more for 720i resolution, which is OK for most uses at this smaller size. But, having been a TV studio tech in charge of adjusting and maintaining studio monitors, I became too picky and always need(!) the best.

4Easily surpasses expectations
By J. DiMarco
Why a ViewSonic VT2430 24-inch 1080p? The VT2430 24-inch was selected as the smallest set compatible with our dinette area. The decision was helped by my experience with another 1080p. Some highly reputable reviewers tend to dismiss 1080p in a set this small (disclosure: We have a nice 19" Sharp 1080p, too). One thing usually overlooked as regards sizing is how legible English subtitles appear at typical viewing distances. The 24-inch set gives ample legibility for the furthest viewer (11 feet) without sacrificing detail for the closest (7). Tech recommendations specify a minimum screen size of 40 inches for 10 feet viewing distance --- much too large to keep in our dinette. The range of available sound power available is stunning. Why have an energy-saving LCD HDTV, if you have to add a power-burning amplifier to get adequate sound? With our VT2430 a family member with some hearing difficulty has absolutely no auditory problem. Except to test, we have never used a sound level much over half what the VT2430 delivers. With my older Sharp however, the maximum sound level is inadequate whenever a window air conditioner runs in a 10' x 16' room.We were concerned about our over-the-air reception due to the effect of a new metallic roof on our attic-mounted antenna. With just a cheap, indoor, amplified antenna we pick up more stations than with pre-roof, standard TVs, and indications are that an external antenna will eventually restore the PBS stations lost due to their reductions of transmitter height with transition to DTV.Set-up and remote use are very easy. The best surprise was perhaps the on-screen DTV program "Guide" the VT2430 provides. The program listing was not expected and is sometimes very convenient, as our local newspaper does not carry DTV channel listings yet. Wish my old Sharp had that feature. With its many positives and superior quality this set would rate 5 stars. Since we have not owned our VT2430 a year, it would be unfair to attest to its durability so soon, however.

4Great 1080 bedroom HDTV
By notmicro
This unit's main claim to fame is that, at this time, its about the only 1080p HDTV available in this size-range which has the full set of video inputs. I decided to take a chance and upgrade my old 23" 720p "HD-ready" bedroom set, since I was hankering to go up to 1080 with a built-in ATSC tuner. And yes I can definitely tell the difference from 720.ATSC tuner: works fine, reasonable sensitivity, broadcast 1080i is spectacular of course.QAM tuner: I've just been experimenting with clear-QAM, which my CableCo now provides quite a bit of (I do not yet subscribe to digital cable, and have no set-top box). The only annoyance is that when I use the set's handy programming function to manually "name" each channel (up to 8 characters I think) it sometimes looses some of the entries. Also every once in a while some "hidden" channels suddenly start showing up, and I have to manually "hide" them all over again. Luckily in Cable mode the tuner correctly intermixes legacy NTSC analog and clear-QAM digital channels transparently; I don't have to switch modes.HDMI from DVD player: I use it with an upconverting DVD player; aspect-ratio has to be changed manually. Wide-screen DVDs look great.HDMI from computer: from my older Mac laptop's DVI output; worked great and the Mac's video auto-sensed the full 1080 screen size and set it up as monitor #2 which was VERY convenient; I didn't have to adjust anything. The image was perfect. I suspect that if people experience problems with PC video, they may be encountering issues with their video cards or drivers, and not the monitor.Composite video: I've used it with an old VCR, no problems. The upconversion is OK; this depends greatly on the quality of the source of course.Sound: I don't use the built-in speakers; I've got the audio-output connected to my sound system.I haven't tried these inputs: VGA / Component / S-videoThe picture quality of the panel is reasonable for this low price-range - its certainly better than my old 720 panel, especially the black-levels - but its not going to win any videophile awards. Sometimes the blacks are a bit "plugged". I notice a very small amount of light-leakage around the edges when the screen is black.

5Excellent Quality, Extremely Functional, and Amazing Stylish HDTV
By Kyler Christensen
Whoah, I really did my research on this one (I always do when I make huge investments into things that I plan on owning for a long time) and I am not disappointed!!! For those that don't know, LED TVs are arguably considered the best class of HDTVs (including LCD and plasma along with all of their variants) and this particular model I feel is really the best in its class (considering all things: quality of picture, pricing, features, and, in my humble opinion, size - I really didn't need anything larger than about 40-something inches for my purposes).I'm going to go on a small side note: Some will argue that plasma has the best picture. However, LEDs have better picture at identical resolutions. I checked this model out on the floor at Best Buy along with two other (42") TVs that I was comparing, an LG LCD and a Panasonic plasma. The sales associate swore by plasma and couldn't even tell the obvious difference in contrast between the 42" and this model (the LED one was obviously better). I'm not going to patronize you on the pros and cons of each class of TV (although I could) but, all things considered, LED really is the best overall. Do your homework if you haven't.Anyways, I noticed that some people whined about: 1) the sound, 2) the remote, 3) screen glare, 4) light leakage, or 5) whatever dud/lemon of a TV they got. I'm going to address these points with rebuttals in the following bullet points:-1) In truth the sound is very decent (you're buying a stand-alone HDTV, what did you expect?) and most people may want to purchase a sound bar/system down the road. Plus there are multiple sound options that enhance and isolate individual parts of the sound that matter to you ("Clear Voice" is a good one sometimes).-2) Hey, it's a REMOTE! Come on, people! Seriously though, the remote is intuitive enough and has some cool features (the menus are very simple and a joy to navigate once you get the hang of everything), like button back-lighting that you can toggle on and off with one glow-in-the-dark button. Plus the buttons have a good feel and good travel to them.-3) Unless you keep the windows open and they're facing the TV, this is not really a huge issue at all - especially when the TV is actually ON!-4) Here's where I think that I will acknowledge some peoples' pouting and concern; on the upper and lower right and left corner portions of the screen, and even upper-center (where the light is sourced from), I did notice some faint circular light leakage/blooming spots when watching a movie at night. It is minor but they are there. However, this is only noticed when the following conditions are met: you're watching in a super widescreen letterbox-format picture, it's night-time or the house lights are off, and the movie scene is a really dark one. I'm not certain if this is normal of LEDs or not. Either way, it is very minor, can easily be ignored, and is definitely not worth taking my TV back for. I'm already too happy with it as you might guess.-5) Mine arrived in perfect condition. I recommend a free trial of Amazon Prime. You can get this TV with free standard shipping rates or $4 for overnight shipping in the continental US.-One last initial worry of mine that I wanted to insert into this review is concerning the bezel/frame style. the outer edge is surrounded with an additional clear edge that contains an even smaller and extremely subtle clear red edge. Aesthetics are an important thing for me so looking at this model in the store was a MUST. However, the red edge along with the clear edge was virtually unnoticeable in the store. When you do look closely and see it you will notice how stylish it all really is. The frame is ultra thin, black gloss, and sits on a mostly-glass base. the shaft of the base mount is clear glass so the TV kind of seems like it's floating. I think that that was what the designers were going for.Now on to some of the features that previous reviewers didn't touch on... This TV has really got you covered. There are a multitude of sound and video options in a very intuitive menu interface. I haven't utilized any of the Internet-accessing options yet. My main plan was to hook my laptop up to the HDMI port and do a lot with that. But here is where the TV really shines for me: the HDD USB port. If you have a USB flash drive/external hard drive then you can view photos, play music, and even watch movies straight off of it. Playing movies has no slow-down whatsoever. If you somehow acquire Blu-ray disc movie rips or whatever video file type/extension you have, chances are great that it will play them all with no problem. The TV has played almost every movie file type that I've thrown at it. I love the streamlined menu within the videos. You can't ask for anything better in this aspect. And HD videos all look glorious.Lastly, some people complain about the "soap opera" effect that HDTVs can suffer from. I believe other brands sometimes call this feature "Trumotion", but for this line of TVs Samsung refers to it as "Auto Motion Plus". Thankfully, you have the option to turn this feature off if you'd like or change it to one of five other settings.Well, I'm not sure what else to say.. I didn't need or want a 3D TV yet... But everyone that has come over to our place sees the screen resolution and picture quality and is always immediately impressed. I highly recommend this TV to anyone. At 40 inches, do yourself a favor and get it for the picture quality and unbeatable price for an LED class TV.EDIT: The one other draw for LED HDTVs is the extremely small off-chance for "burn in" if you view the same picture constantly without a change in picture. The manual warns something along the lines of being sure not to view the exact same picture for more than 5% of your total viewing time in any given week. Otherwise, it's a small chance (but possible) that you could get burn in on your TV.(Update as of 6/27/11): The picture quality has always been utterly exceptional and without comparison for this TV. However, I have a very keen eye and will still at times notice the light leaking issue during EXTRA widescreen videos where the light is on the top and bottom borders and is darkest. I think that I am going to continue hanging on to this TV, however, notwithstanding this one issue - although I am currently weighing the matter as it compares to the price and timing for this investment for me now. If I do contact Samsung, I would only want this same model again. Videophiles may just want to keep this light leakage issue in mind for their purchase.

5Auto Motion Plus - the price disparity
By K. Singhasiri
After owning this TV for exactly a month I've finally decided to write a review, you know, after the excitement wears off and what not. Actually I'm still pretty excited about it. My previous set was also a Samsung 26" LCD and upgrading to this one was worthwhile.Since this is a television, I'll comment about the picture first. Out of the box it's very good, after adjusting the settings a bit - excellent. The colors are very vibrant and no problems with viewing angles. I actually like my images to have a bit of contrast to them; I prefer black to be black and not grey. At first I was having a hard time trying to get it right, since my initial reaction was to reduce backlight and gamma, but crank up contrast and brightness. After a while, I finally figured out 'brightness' had the biggest effect. Around 30% was where it really kicks in, but it didn't occur to me to drop it that low. It's all about preference though, and this TV should have enough settings for anybody. Aside from contrast though, I don't see an insane amount of difference between this and a non-LED set... Something I must mention about the settings though, depending on which of the 4 picture presets you're on, certain selections like advanced video settings become unselectable for reasons unknown. Though I pretty much left that setting untouched. Despite that, I really like the fact that settings are saved independently across the 4 presets for EACH input source. So, for example, if you have 4 connections coming in, you can have a total of 16 presets - good stuff. I also tried the PC input through vga and found the picture to be very sharp. Colors are accurate though a bit strong and text is easily readable from a few feet out and this is coming from a practically blind gamer. The audio, I found to be pretty good. The bass isn't going to blow your neighbors away, and it's not going to replace any home theater system, but there is a very capable, customizable equalizer on board which should help a bit. Loudness for this set wasn't a problem for me.Now I must talk about the 120Hz Auto Motion Plus(AMP) dealy as it seems to be the main feature that drives up the cost from lower models. What AMP does for you is, well, readable in the product description, so I'll describe it. AMP made every thing move faster while maintaining picture detail. (more frames in the same amount of time = faster) So, to me, everything looked like either home movies or daytime soaps which, if you can picture them, tend to move faster than most television programs and movies. Despite the bit about daytime soaps, I generally watch movies and sports, and after a few dozen years of watching them in ~24 frames per second (a bit higher for sports), I found the added (double?) frames to seem unnatural. After a few days found myself turning the feature off completely even for sports. Though there's nothing wrong with the quality of the image presented per se, I'd just prefer to see a blue flash go by as opposed to Ironman's actual chest piece go by, for example. And it only really kicks in at what seems like certain intervals, so the inconsistency in framerate got to me as well. I did find a use for AMP while gaming. Everything moves at what seems like 60 fps even when the game is not natively known to. Though, again, it's not 100 percent consistent in high frames (more like 60-80) and certain, very fast moving, games, like racing, cause what seems like screen tearing at the edges. You probably won't notice it (AMP) on games that already run at 60fps, and also it won't work miracles for games with already poor and inconsistent framerates. Overall, it looks fantastic for games, as I didn't give it a second thought about leaving it on, but for everything else I finally decided not to.The main selling point for me was the Connectshare. I was thinking of purchasing a digital media player a while back, but here it's already built-in and it's a very capable one indeed. Though, there's too many to list here, the TV's e-manual actually lists suppurt for a dozen file types spanning several dozen video and audio codecs with bitrates as high as 30 Mbps for certain file types. It's played pretty much every thing I've thrown at it and handled any 'usb device' I've used so far, which includes NTFS formatted sata hard drives with external enclosure, no worries. Though once in a while the audio cuts in and out on my .vob straight rips, and I've yet to test files with very high bitrates since I feel the tradeoff for file size isn't worth it past 7-8 Mbps. Something I must mention about the media player is it does an admirable job of reducing video artifacting from down-conversion, however you're not able to zoom past the actual video while maintaining aspect ratio. In other words it won't crop the black horizontal bars for you on a 4:3 ratio video. You have to do it in the conversion. I found it strange since the option to zoom in is there for all the other video inputs. As for the Smart TV/Samsung App hub, I tried it briefly using the Youtube app under a wired connection(which stalled on the initial install). Videos streamed very quickly and it looked like the the app always plays the highest video quality. Most of the other apps never appealed to me so I found myself quickly deleting them off the TV but this was never a selling point for me anyways, just something to mess around with. As others have mentioned, navigating without a keyboard quickly became a chore. So, hopefully, somewhere along the line, Samsung will separately sell their qwerty remote that's included with their 7000 and up series of TVs otherwise this feature could fade fast. After all that though, I would definitely purchase this TV again if I had to (which I did - the 40" UN40D6000 series) especially at the $700 price-tag offered at the time (thanks to the wacky commodities exchange-like fluctuating price system here). Even though the LED aspect seems to do more for your eco concerns than picture quality and I seldom use the 120Hz Auto motion, I'd rather have more functionality than less. Also, I can afford it. However, for the casual viewer, those on a budget, or old-school movie-goer, 120Hz is overkill. I could go with the UN32D5500 32-Inch and still be happy. As always, see it for yourself.

5Outstanding Picture Clarity and Color
By Product Reviewer
The Samsung UN46D6000 is an excellent led HDTV set that is the best value priced alternative to a 3D model. In fact, the outstanding picture clarity and color of this LED set almost seems 3D at times and these are its most striking features. Other pluses are the light weight, thin profile and elegant overall design along with low power usage. Although, I would suggest that individual sound control features for bass, treble and balance would be a definite improvement.

5Great TV just in time for football season!
By S. DELANCEY
I have had the Magnavox 42MF437B 42" LCD HDTV for about 4 months now. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. First of all, we use this TV in our Family room with a DIRECTV HD DVR. I have it set to use the 1080i display from the HD DVR (1080p not available). The picture is very crisp and bright on HD channels that are available. Even using 1080i, fast motion does not seem to have "trails" as I would have expected. I've experimented with 720p vs. 1080i and, to my untrained eye, the higher definition setting even in interlaced is better.Let me go backward for a minute to when I received the TV. The box itself is pretty ingenious. If you bother to read the directions (which, for once, I actually did), the box is quite helpful in setting up the TV. It allows you to mount the stand and plug in the lower speaker in a safe and secure manner prior to standing it up.One of the reasons out side of the features this TV appealed to me was the fact that is is 40.9" wide. We have a TV cabinet that I really did not want to replace that could only accommodate a 41" wide set. I had been looking for something that would fit this range so that my +$1,000 TV wouldn't cost me +$2,000 in furniture. Once I assembled the TV it slide in perfectly with virtually no gap on the side of the cabinet. It sort of has a built in look now. The menus for setting up the TV are fairly intuitive and easy to configure. In the beginning, I was using Dish Network standard service and pulling HDTV over the air with an RCA antenna. This was serviceable but the signal from the OTA side was too week to have reliable service. The TV did just find with the OTA signal when environmental conditions were just right (read, after the sun went down). I am much happier with the DIRECTV HD service now.All in all, this is a fantastic TV for my needs and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a 42" 1080p TV.

4Nice set - may be able to do better for the money.
By B. Saxton
I have this TV and I am very happy with it. It has a very nice, bright, crisp picture. It has TRUE 1080 - be careful when looking at sets. 1366 X 728 pixels is 720P HD. 1920 x 1080 is full 1080i/p HD. Often times sellers give the pixels and then say the TV takes 1080i input - this does not mean it can display all those pixels though! Check the pixels if you want 1080, it should have 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has lots of inputs including 2 HDMI (3 would be nicer but many TVs just come with 1).Now, this is not the most full-featured model and you may be able to find more features for your money. It does not have picture-in-picture (bummer). The menus are navigable, but sparse and somewhat awkward (but not too bad). The automatic format detection is a bit buggy - it may try to automatically change the aspect ratio during the middle of shows and movies and that can be annoying. You just need to manually set the TV to Widescreen in this case.Overall, I am very happy with the set.

1Broke in 2.5 months
By D. Sun
I enjoyed this LCD, even though several sources not to trust Magnavox/Philips electronics. The Magnavox has really cheap speakers, a non-universal remote, problems with bright reds, but it was still a decent LCD for the price and had a max res of 1080P. However, after 2.5 months the Magnavox developed a bad column of pixels, which ruined the display.
