I was originally going to buy a Kuro 50 inch plasma after looking at all the online reviews from many different sites. The Samsung 650 was also ranked very high, but there were some small negatives about the tv (some glare issues primarily) that had me holding off for the Kuro. Amazon originally had the Kuro for about 2k, but I didn't pull the trigger quick enough, and then it went away, and I couldn't find it anywhere for under $2,500.I wasn't sure if I was going to go ahead and buy the 650 when I looked on Amazon one day and saw the new 50 inch 760 on sale for $1,599.00. After reading some professional reviews on this product (there wasn't a whole lot due to how new it was), I decided that this was an upgrade from the slightly older model, and decided to pull the trigger. Best decision I could have made! Not sure if experts still rank the Kuro higher than this television, but if they do, the Kuro must be out of this world, because this Samsung is UNBELIEVABLE. This is my first plasma tv purchase, and I was used to watching television on a 36" Panasonic traditional tv, but after seeing the picture on the Samung, I was blown away. Watching sports on tv makes you feel as if you are at the event. The color is amazing, the tv looks nice, and the swivel on the stand allows me to turn the tv to face me when my wife isn't around. It even makes bad movies good (think Spiderman 3), awful movie, but awesome special effects in high def! I think the sound was decent as well, but it didn't have enough booming bass for me, so with the money I saved over the Kuro, I purchased a Denon soundbar to go along with the plasma to add better surround sound and booming bass. Now wherever I am seated in the room, I can turn my components to face me and enjoy a pretty good surround sound system. If you don't want to add a surround sound system, this tv handled sound well, but as I say I was really looking for more booming bass when I watched movies. It would have been great if there was a way to add a subwoofer directly to this television, something the Kuro has, but not the Samsung.There is a teeny glare on the OUTSIDE edge of the television on the part that is not actually the screen(not sure why Samsung made it almost a mirror like edge), but nothing that is too distracting, and I got used to it pretty quickly. I have this in my living room which gets very little light when the shades are closed, but even with lights on, or during the day, the glare issue on this tv is not noticeable. I was a little leary given past Samsung reviews, but I can tell you that if possible glare is holding you back from buying this tv, don't think twice about it...not an issue. Also, you can watch this tv from anywhere in the room and see it clearly. The controls on the remote are extremely functionable, and everything is VERY easy to setup and tweak.The other part of this purchase that is EXTREMELY important, and should be emphasized, is the process of buying DIRECTLY through Amazon.com. As long it is directly through Amazon.com (and not through an affiliate), shipping is included in the price, and the company handling the deliveries is TOP NOTCH. When I initially looked around for purchase possibilities, the thing that bothered me was that most companies had a policy where they would deliver the plasma to your front door only. You had to open the box, make sure that it worked, and then sign for it. If there was any type of problem, some would tell you to refuse delivery, and others would tell you that you had to get it fixed through the warranty process! The last thing I wanted to do was to get a defective set, and then have to get someone here to fix it! When I went with Amazon.com, the company delivering for them brought the plasma into my house, took it out of the box, put it on the open table, hooked it up, put batteries in the remote, setup the initial configuration, and made sure that it was working fine BEFORE I signed for it. This piece of mind often called "white glove service" elsewhere costing anywhere from $100 - $150 additional dollars was ABSOLUTELY free with Amazon.com. I can't stress enough how important this was. I had read about this service beforehand, and it was a primary reason (along with cost) as to why I was pretty much holding off until I found the right television on Amazon. This service alone made my purchase through Amazon.com worth the price over other services, but the price was also also at the lower range of ANYWHERE else. A friend of mine owns an electronics store, and told me point blank that he doesn't understand how Amazon.com can price merchandise the way they do it, but he had heard good things about them, and although it would hurt him by recommending Amazon.com, he told me to buy from them if the price was right.I highly recommend this television as well as purchasing from Amazon.com. The final way you know how happy I am with this purchase is to keep the following in mind....I RARELY spend the time to enter reviews after purchases, but I was so happy with this purchase, that I couldn't wait to share my experience with everyone on Amazon.com

This was a great experience all around. Not only does the 50" Samsung plasma have a beautiful picture, it also has enough inputs for a number of peripherals, ie, Wii, karaoke, BluRay, DVR, and older DVD/VCR player. I had a hard time locating this particular model but Amazon had one via VANN's. My only complaint is that none of the TVs I looked at mentioned that you need extra cables to connect the various peripherals. The quick-connect instructions accompanying the TV gives a list of several different cables available, and lists these in "good, better, best" format for picture quality.

The Samsung PNA760 50" plasma television is amazing and Amazon White Glove delivery is top notch.The White Gloves Delivery man and I unpack the television, placed it atop my entertainment center, plug it end, and turned it on. The picture was incredible without any adjustments. We currently have 4 flat screen televisions in our home, two LCDs and two Plasmas. Although the LCDs are excellent televisions, they pale in comparison to the two plasmas. The primary differences are motion blur and black level.My only negative comment concerning the PNA760 50" plasma is reflection glare. Probably would not want to place this Television in a brightly lighted room without heavy curtains to block out ambient light sources while viewing. In a dark room this television is perfect in all aspects. I highly recommend Amazon's white glove delivery too.

We had to replace a 61" DLP which had produced a very good picture but developed `issues'. True, some of the LEDs produce a crisp picture but at 2.5 times the price of a large plasma I could not justify the expense. The Panasonics certainly produce a great picture but are bulky and heavy. I also waffled on the Samsung 63" 7000 or 8000. These are elegant sets and their slim width is especially appealing but I don't think I'd really use 3D (for an extra $700). Perhaps for the next set, in a few years, sans special glasses. After what seemed like endless research and numerous visits to the local electronics stores to compare, I made the jump. I think what ultimately made the decision was Consumer Reports rating it #1, over even the 7000. Well, technically, the winner was the 550, the same TV as the 590 with a couple less features.The TV was purchased through Amazon from One Call. Some of those reviews (not just on Samsung) had prepared me for the worst: screens cracked during shipping, plasma buzz, and plain duds. And to be once-removed from Amazon added some angst to the process. I am pleased to report that none of my worries were justified. I received my purchase of the Samsung PN63C590 two weeks ago, on time, in one piece, no buzz, no dud.While not an expert I can certainly appreciate a gorgeous picture when I see it. Out of the box the color was quite good but I tweaked the settings with calibrations easily found on CNet. As the set has `aged' the picture became even better. SD looks about as good as it can, DVDs are very good, streaming Netflix good to very good with HD, over-the-air broadcast excellent, and of course, BluRay terrific. The sound is not bad, becomes great hooked to even a relatively low-end Samsung home theatre system. [It plays nice with the home theatre system as well].This is my first plasma and as the owner of several, smaller, misc. LCD sets, I was most concerned about screen glare. The LCDs handle bright ambient light well. The new plasma is in a living room that is fairly bright during daylight. Again, that fear proved unfounded; the set compensates for glare. The big advantage of the plasma I would say is a far more realistic picture (even given the orange-tinged excesses of things like CSI Miami). Motion blur is not an issue; loved the passing of Aaron Rodgers.While I would not normally write a review I know the tendency is for dissatisfied people to express themselves while satisfied ones are not as motivated. Anyway, I don't think you'd go wrong.

My wife and I had a 62" DLP TV for years. It was a nice 1080i HD set but we hated replacing the bulb every 18 months or so and every time we did, we ran into problems (wrong bulb, housing broke, etc.) It was time for a new TV.We went to our local electronics store and started looking at all the TV types (LCD, Plasma, DLP, LED). We really didn't want to go with DLP again and LED TVs are just ridiculously priced so it came down to LCD and Plasma. They had 1 of each sitting side by side for comparison. The plasma and LCD both looked nice, but the color on the Samsung plasma sold us. I did some research first and found that both LCD and Plasma TVs are rated at 100,000 hours. I had heard some bad things about plasma TVs but all those things were restricted to the first generation plasmas. The new ones last longer, don't burn images in the screen as fast, and don't fade over time. You get the best picture as long as the TV lasts.So we bought the Samsung C590 63" Plasma. We didn't really want 3D for the extra price so we chose this one. Here are some key features.Sound: While nothing really beats a sound system, the speakers are not bad at all. I have it hooked up through a surround sound but when we play the Wii, we have to use the TV speakers and they are very decent.Picture: We have it hooked up to DirecTV HD. The picture is amazing. Watch a cooking show and see how vibrant the colors are on the fruits. We hooked up a blu-ray player and watched a few blu-ray movies. I had heard that going from 1080i to 1080p most people won't notice a difference unless your TV is bigger than 50". Well I can tell you that I definitely noticed a difference and the picture is absolutely amazing. I love watching blu-ray movies on this TV.Installation: We bought a fairly tall stand to put this on. My wife struggled a little bit but the 2 of us were able to lift the TV onto the stand without any problems. ****NOTE**** make sure you keep the TV upright during transportation and never lay it down. The warranty is void if you do and the picture may be compromised. Plasma TVs are not designed to be laid down for any reason unless they are being serviced by a technician.Setup: The easiest part. We hooked up 1 HDMI cable from our sound system that had everything else running through it. The TV detected the active HDMI port and the sound system so it automatically turned to that input. When you turn up the volume on a connected surround sound system, the TV indicates external speakers. The TV turns on quickly and plays a little jingle. It doesn't take forever to warm up like our DLP did.Quality: While I haven't had the TV long, we did purchase a 5-year warranty since it was our first plasma. Everything seems great so I'll update the review if I see any problems down the road.If you are looking for a Plasma, the Samsung is the best way to go with their color perfect technology.Update 6/06/2011:We had to have our TV serviced since it started developing some vertical burn marks on each side of the screen where a letterbox image would end. The technician told me that plasma TVs require a full screen image at all times. We had to change our Directv settings so non-HD channels would play at full screen. I asked him about the movies that have the black bar at the top and bottom on wide screen movies. He said that it would take years of continuous viewing for problems to arrise. He chalked up our problem to a faulty panel and he came back a week later to replace the entire panel. Luckily we had the full warranty. Make sure the picture is full screen if you can get it. If you have to go to letterbox, then make sure you don't have grey bars on the side.

A quality hardwood frame custom made to your exact television (TV IS NOT INCLUDED) features hand-made chestnut brown fabric matting exactly covering the border of the TV and allowing sound and remote control signals to pass through. Frame attaches to the TV (rather than the wall), so the frame will tilt with the TV if you have an articulating wall mount. Easily installs to your wall-mounted TV by sliding onto the television and attaching to the TV with mounting straps. No tools or TV un-mounting are required. Each frame is hand made in Austin, Texas. Please allow 2-3 weeks for custom manufacture and delivery.
