1Not all Panasonics are the same
By flimones
First let me start by saying I actually purchased this Model at Costco for 899.00Previously I had a 5 YR old 42 inch Panny Plasma, nothing was wrong with it I just wanted a bigger screen. I had heard all the hype about LED and its brighter colors and what not, so I thought I would give it a try, I am a Panasonic loyal, and thought if it's Panasonic it has to be good? Boy was I ever wrong, first of all I was told this was a 120 refresh rate (Wrong its 60htz) The picture quality of this model is to put it mildly HORRIBLE!! Extremely difficult to adjust, had to make adjustments to any channel I went to, all scenes are very dark and the Vivid setting is a joke! Angle viewing was very limited and darkened really bad, sound is low and tinny. kept it for a month before I decided to send it back, thank goodness for the Costco return policy..I would not recommend this set to anyone, not even for free its that bad. What does work.. The internet worked good as did the netflix and youtube.. I went ahead and ordered another Panasonic model this time Plasma!! What a world of difference, TC-P55ST50 is a MONSTER!!

2PANASONIC TC-55LE54 LED LIT T.V.
By VIPERICHNAPLES
THE PICTURE: GOOD. VERY BRIGHT WITH GOOD NATURAL COLORS. THE BLACKS ARE NOT AS DEEP AS MY OLD SONY. THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS. THE BAD NEWS: THE SOUND. HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, WHAT SOUND ??? AT FULL VOLUME THIS T.V. PUTS OUT SOUND LOWER AND TINNIER THAN A CHEAP TABLE RADIO. SO, IF YOU WANT TO USE THIS T.V. AS A MONITOR ONLY AND GET YOUR SOUND FROM A COMPONENT STEREO IT WILL BE ALRIGHT, BUT AS A STAND ALONE T.V. THE SOUND MAKES THIS SET A DEAL BREAKER AND I STILL AM WITHIN THE 3 MONTHS AT COSTCO AND I AM CONSIDERING RETURNING THE 2 SETS I PURCHASED.2/22/13 UPDATE: O.K. I DID RETURN THE 2 PANASONIC TC-55LE54 TELEVISIONS. I PURCHASED A 55 SAMSUNG L.E.D. L.C.D. DEEP BLACKS AND VERY GOOD SOUND. ALSO GOT A VISIO 60 LED LCD...THE SET HAS AN SRS SOUND SYSTEM AND GOOD PICTURE....VERY HAPPY, SAME PRICE RANGE ALSO.....SO FORGET PANASONIC AS TO THE MODEL REVIEWED HERE...THERE ARE BETTER T.V. SETS IN THAT PRICE RANGE.

5What Panasonic has done with Plasma, they have now done with LED!
By Billy Jester
Best picture I have seen on a LED TV yet, and I should know since I buy and sell a lot on my own store. The colors are so true to life, just amazing. When the screen is completely white, be prepared to need sunglasses, it is that bright! With my Amazon Prime account I watch HD movies and shows on my new Panny at no extra cost. Really did my research before buying, I went around to BestBuy, HHGreg, and Sams' and saw this TV first hand before I bought it from Amazon (note: I was doing other shopping, at these stores, so the research was not a waste). I mean, who can go wrong with free shipping, not having to worry about loading the TV in and out of your vehicle, the gas, the tax. Free right to the door. I would highly recommended the Panasonic TC-55LE54, best purchase I have made all year! Thank you Amazon!

Pros and Cons of Plasma TV

HD CRT, even in all their obsolescence, not enough use. It is true that the display output compatible with HD digital screen today, but there is something that many CRT is still the LCD is not today, is the ability to properly adjust the contrast color images.

But if CRTs are better when it comes to this category, we still can not accept the simple screen at age aging technology. It is still widely considered obsolete. Fortunately, however, there is another screen technology that has the same advantage when it comes to screen contrast. It still retains the flatness and purity of its lines of LCD technology. Let us introduce you to the wonders of plasma technology.

How Plasma Screen Technology Works

Plasma, as defined in the tension physical, state ionizing fourth subject. Plasma screen aptly named because it ionized gas electric charge. Gas sealed in rooms or tiny cells, considered as singular pixel screen. The ionized gas Containment, control and use of electricity for lighting comparable with fluorescent lighting technology (also using gas seal). In essence, it can handle HD plasma TV screen many fluorescent lamps are small, much the same way also covered CRT monitors, CRT (cathode ray tubes).

Because the screen itself could produce their own light, it is quite capable of producing a wider variety of display settings, and color than other flat panel technologies. Coupled with the video is a good solution, it is able to produce what can be considered the best quality screen for all display technologies. In addition, the plasma HDTV is also quite effective for displaying black or dark colors (which is immediately adjacent to the selected cells on the screen).

It is interesting to note that plasma screens are generally used on larger HDTV. In fact, it can be economically viable if it is not made sufficiently large. For this reason, it could get a Plasma TV at a higher price based on the value as it becomes larger.

Benefits of plasma HDTV

The main advantage of plasma HDTV capable full advantage of the image quality. Of course, it could be subdivided into an overall positive facts:

  • It is probably the best contrast ratio on the screen of the currently available technologies. Have the opportunity to get a deeper black colors of this benefit, but usually it has to be able to render whole image in general.
  • This is almost the best HDTV for larger models. For better price by means of value, it is natural that the Plasma HDTV is the best option when it comes to models with larger screens.
  • With wide viewing angles. As there is no screen orientation problems, such as LCDs, it did not need to worry about viewing angles. In fact, the image quality is relatively the same and does not suffer from degradation.
  • Motion blur is barely noticeable. The faster refresh rate is the main factor here, although the fast response time of Irradiated cells in addition to that benefit.

Disadvantages of Plasma HDTV

The quality of the screen, while great, at a high enough price. Most of the disadvantages of plasma HDTV focused on the effects of turning against its benefits.

  • Plasma screens suffer from burn-in effect. The effect is characterized by the "ghost" of the last image appears on the screen, especially if the image or a combination of these colors remained on the screen for a long time. So far, even with physical correction recent years, they have only managed to make it look less obvious.
  • It is much heavier and "fatter" than other screens. This could limit the establishment of the unity of one large rooms, TV and may also make it difficult to move from room to room. Some of the models can be more risky to install the mount on walls. (This may further worsen if you aim for the largest plasma HDTV that you can buy)
  • The huge energy eater Plasma HDTV. This is perhaps one of the most disadvantaged because of spending budget-conscious consumers. The energy cost of running on plasma TV about 3-5 times the energy cost of LCD HDTV for the same amount. Running might multiple of plasma HDTV skyrocket your energy bills in no time at all.

If you are looking for a new TV, the best plasma TV and visit HDTVs for an updated list of the best TVs note.

5worth more then every penny!!
By busy dad
I have lived with this tv for only a week now but I would like to say I researched to no end for a tv that is over 60 inches. The other choices were the 65 inch sharp lcd and the 65 inch panny plasma. I have compared this tv to the others with the same feed and similar settings and the samsung wins in my eyes. The colors on this tv are more vibrant then the lg ,kuro, and panny.I would say the panel and stand are a very nice glossy black with the option to swivel to some extent. The tv arrived connected to the stand which made setup very easy. The menu used to change settings is very user friendly as well. I like how you can label each input source this way it is obvious which input works with each device. The BD playback on this tv is excellent. I could go on and on.There is a B590 which inlcudes cinema smooth and a screen which is ultra filter bright plus as opposed to ultra filter bright. You will not notice the difference.BTW, I also saw this tv side by side with last years 63A650 playing same feed using same settings mode. It was not even close in my eyes. The 63b550 looked sharper, brighter, colors were more vibrant etc...

3Beautiful, but buzzes like no other
By RightCoast
You know that electronic hum your old CRT would make back in the day? Take that and times it by 100 and you'll have the buzz emanating from the back of this monster. The picture is fantastic, but the buzz is UNBEARABLE (think 20' away at normal volume levels and it's clear as day!). Unfortunately this is a VERY common problem and if you venture over to AVSForum you'll find threads dedicated to this issue. Consensus is that the power supply is the culprit and it gets worse the more white (more power to make a white screen) you have in your picture.I managed to quell the roar by wedging a roll of scotch tape between the lower left hand side of the TV and the wall, which would seem to indicate the power supply is causing the outer housing to vibrate. Regardless, some have found this trick to work, some haven't, and some haven't had a problem at all.So all in all the picture like I said is beautiful, and with the roll of tape I'm happy as a clam. Once I have the time and once I hear people getting replacements that address and not duplicate the issue, I'll give Samsung a ring. Now that I think about it, I should call them now...I really shouldn't have to wedge a roll of tape behind my TV to make it right. Taking the buzz away from the review and I'd give this TV five starts all day long. Picture is truly mesmerizing.Caveat Emptor

5Wow amazing picture and superior quality!
By Chris Vidal
I ordered my Samsung PN63B550 a week ago and it arrived 5 days later. Amazon ordering was easy and tracking my order online was very accurate on their delivery time. My tv was delivered two days before the actual delivery date from Amazon. It was ship by Pilot delivery service and they only sent one person to carry my tv from the delivery truck to inside my home. I had to help assist the delivery guy to take it out of it's packing material and place it on top of the stand. That was only thing i was dissappointed with I would suggest you call Amazon first before ordering and ask for a white glove deliver service instead. This was my first Samsung plasma Tv and I am thorougly satisfied with my order picture is wonderfull and movies on HD never looked so good on this 63" mammoth. If your looking for the best Tv for watching sports and movies look no further. I also saved $700 dollars when ordering through Amazon compared to Best Buy and Frys Electronics. Hands down the best Plasma Samsung has ever made. To many features to list like mega dynamic contrast and 600hz motion picture and 24fps for more relistic movie experience and uses 50% less energery compared to last year models.

    5Great TV.
    By DCfromtehburg
I went to Best Buy and hhgregg looking for a new television about a month ago. After reading many reviews on a few different televisions I had in my mind I narrowed it down to LG or SONY. I had 42" LG before, a 32" SONY in my bedroom and I had a roommate that uses a 50+? inch VIZIO--then I saw the SEIKI. I had never heard of the brand before and asked the people at the different stores about it and read some reviews on my phone while at the store. SEIKI 55inch LCD 1080p 120hz for $699.99...seemed a little off to me. But after reading many reviews and talking to some people I went ahead and took a risk with it. Note* I am def. not one to go off-brand with electronics.* I went ahead an purchased a 5yr warranty plan with it to be safe; SO IF THE PICTURE QUALITY or TV IS NOT TO MY STANDARDS or BREAKS WITHIN 5 YEARS I GET A NEW ONE OR THE MONEY BACK. I have heard and read that SEIKI and LG are connected somehow and that LG parts are used with SEIKI televisions, so that was a plus to hear..whether how true those statements are.Looking at the display at the store; LG, SEIKI and SONY all right beside each other (LCDs) I could not see a difference. The TV was VERY WELL packaged, lots of Styrofoam and protective coverings. The weight was about 93 lbs, too me, not too bad. I was able to handle it myself..I had too. It hooked up very easily, came with all the necessary cables and even an HDMI cable of pretty good quality. The remote is nothing fancy, pretty bland, but it has everything you need on it to operate your TV. The menus are easy to get around and understand. The factory settings on the picture settings were pretty good. I tweaked mine to my preference as any TV I own. The sound from the TV is also pretty good, better than my LG. But obv. a good home theater system is going to be better.I have noticed nothing that I do not like from this TV, after my first 2 months of owning it, besides the remote. My cable box synced up with the TV right away. The picture quality is great with the HD cable, LG Bluray and my XBOX 360. I see no problems or negative differences than what is with my LG or SONY. (Besides some different options;ex SONY has more HDMI ports, etc.) I always use the latest HIGH SPEED HDMI CABLES available also, no problems with connection/loss of picture. There is NO internet access with this TV but that is not a concern of mine while I use my 360 or Bluray to access what I'd need with the TV and have a laptop and desktop computer for the more important things.I truly believe this is a good to great TV for the brand and the price. Depending on what you are looking for in your TV should depend on what you want to buy. Other TVs may have more options in different areas, you may want an LED or 3D televison..but this is perfect for me. VIZIO started out similar with low-priced sets with good quality that greatly improved over that last couple years and I feel Seiki is going the same route.I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a TV right now, nor pay for an LED or 3D. LEDs will drop in price over the next couple years and the LCD isn't really a big picture difference to me and for what I NEED.I DO recommend this TV. I love it and I am VERY impressed thus far with the quality and picture of my purchase. If you don't want to buy an off-brand, it's understandable, but know you can get a lemon from any other manufacturer just as well. As was my first LG set, but they did replace.I hope this review helps those who read it.

I have had this tv for 29 days now...the tv looked great in HH Gregg, better than the name brands. I am having an issue with pixelating and jerky pictures on non-HD channels. It is horrible and cant figure out how to fix it. The HD channels as well as dvd's and bluray all look great. Alas...yesterday the remote stopped working... new batteries... still nothing. I plan on calling the company tomorrow. I may return it. They advertise it as 120hz but I have yet to figure out how to set it to 120. The owners manual specifications say it is 60hz.10/29I called the Seiki company 4 days ago and was given a claim# for the remote. I also asked about the problem with the picture and was told a technician would be calling me back the following business day. I have yet to hear back about either issue. I called the company back last night and was told to "wait a few more days" for someone to call me because of "high call volume". I am less than satisfied with my purchase. Next ime I will spend the extra money on a name brand tv.

    5BEST PICTURE FOR THE PRICE
    By scott
Bought a 46 inch seiki, 2 and a half years ago, superb picture, sound could be better but is is adequate. It has had a consistently good picture and brightness, my setting for brightness is still at 50%. If you can get one of these for a good price, scarf it up quickly. Picture is mush clearer and brighter than Toshiba or Sony.

The value you get for the price of this tv is second to none. I just recently put this tv in my house replacing an old rear projection tv and i am amazed at its color accuracy. I did find my self making a few tweeks from the factory settings but once you get it to where you like the picture you'll fall in love. Sports and movies shine on this set. I preferred the plasma over the lcd because the movement on the tv was much more natural than the 120hz lcd displays. I sell T.V.s at sears and after being around both for a while I find the plasma image much easier and natural to look at. I chose Panasonic because they seem to have mastered the plasma technology and even a Samsung rep told me that he preferred Panasonic's plasma to Samsungs plasma. I will admit to liking some of the new Sony's coming out and the new LED tv is really cool but you cant touch those televisions at this price point. I kind of wish I had waited for the G10 seeing as it came in at such a close price difference but I cant complain I love this tv and it is a few hundred dollars cheaper. I should also note that the anti-glare filter works really well I wouldn't be worried about glare issues. If anyone got through this review my advice to you is to buy this or the step up G10.

5For most people, this set represents the best value for money of any 50" class HDTV
    By James Ahearn
I decided on the P50S1 after about 250 hours of daily HDTV research for the past 3 or 4 months, in which I debated everything from plasma vs. LCD to screen size to features to ease of use to durability. The 2009 Panasonic plasmas use the new "Neo-PDP" panels, which I can tell you personally having lifted both are much lighter than an equal size 2008 model plasma. The manual prudently warns against a single person lifting the set, but I did so myself with no problem. This model was initially sold on Amazon at the initial MSRP of $1799, but has now dropped to a street price of under $1400 one month after being released. Placed my order on Wednesday the 8th, scheduled delivery for the following Wednesday the 15th. Was very surprised to get a phone call from Amazon's freight carrier, CEVA, asking if they could deliver the TV on the 11th. Four days early, and on a Saturday no less. The CEVA driver carried the box into my apartment, unpacked it, let me inspect the TV, assembled the stand, put the TV on the stand, and let me hook up the power and HDMI connection to turn the TV on, all before I signed for it.Picture quality in the Cinema preset is already outstanding to my eyes. However I'm sure color accuracy will improve once I tweak some settings as posted at [..]. The Panasonic 2009 S series, G10 series, and V10 series all use the same physical panels, so the only differences between them are software/firmware, and extras like the VGA input and VieraCast on the other series. If you don't need the extras and are willing to tweak your picture settings, the S series is the best value for money out there. If I really nitpick, the only negative I can come up with is the glossy black finish shows dust very easily, but that is true of most any HDTV currently sold.

    5AMAZING!
    By AJW
This tv is great! I have been researching tvs for over a year to find the right one. I read all of the professional reviews (cnet) and this is the tv that I decided on. I was on a budget, I am a college student who does a lot of gaming and blu-ray watching. I am extremely picky about picture quality and this tv delivers an amazing picture! This blows nearly all LCD tv's out of the water. I was not going to get a plasma to begin with because of the supposed "image retention" which I have yet to notice. I am extremely glad that I got a Panasonic Plasma. The blacks are so deep, it almost looks as though the tv is off when the screen is black. The deep blacks make the colors pop! I have watched a number of blu-rays and played a couple of hours of games and I am in love already. I highly recommend this tv to everyone. It is an extremely good deal. Any LCD for this size would be much more expensive and have a much lower picture quality. Also for those of you deciding between the G10 and this tv I would recommend this one. I went to the local Best Buy and compared the two next to each other and I could not notice any difference between the two. Save yourself some money. Good luck deciding on your next tv I hope this review helped.

    5Best Picture I've Ever Seen
    By Kenneth Cooper
I've owned this 58VT25 for a few weeks now. HDTV broadcasts and Blu-ray video are just amazing, not to mention the very excellent 3D seen from Direct TV broadcasts. And by the way .. There are no grayish backgrounds where one would expect black. On this TV, blacks are BLACK. Also, on mine, there isn't any, "buzz" (someone here reported hearing a buzz) or any sound other than program content regardless of how close I get to the TV. If there was, I would call Panasonic's repair service. One thing I learned early on is, don't mess with the color adjustments on this TV right off the bat; wait a few days for the TV to stabilize then adjust if you feel the need. The color realism on this TV is extraordinary. Being typically an early adapter, I've owned a few other plasma TVs. My gripe with my earlier Panasonics is .. I could never get the reds quite right (leaned toward crimson), and there always seemed to be just the slightest greenish hew. Yes .. I'm picky .. kind of a perfectionist I guess. The reason for my having owned several TVs over the recent past is because those before never seemed quite right. This one though is a keeper. If there's any gripe at all it's with watching non-HDTV broadcasts. They look great, but I think they looked even better on the TV I replaced this one with. But broadcasters are all switching over to HD so that little complaint will never cause me to continue in my early adapter ways. This one, I'm sure, will stay in my house until one of us passes away (I'm a few years into retirement). And by the way, I will edit this review if any negatives become apparent on this TV over time.

    5Stunning HDTV!
    By Rijeka Solar
Having previously owned a 4 year-old Panasonic Plasma that was only 720p, this TV is truly a treat - the black levels are outstanding, THX mode for color settings provides great out-of-the-box viewing experience. As to the buzzing that others have alluded to. Plasma TVs buzz, more than LCDs, it is a known fact. Panasonic refers to their "10 foot rule" meaning that you shouldn't be able to hear the buzzing at a distance of 10 feet. Mine had a horrendous buzzing which varied in intensity based on the scene - Panasonic service had a repairman out to me in no time, and it turned out to be a bad ferrite core - something ironically meant to suppress buzzing. That issue having been promptly fixed, the picture quality is amazing, especially with a 1080p feed (pop in a BluRay DVD like Planet Earth or Life and just drool as you watch it on this TV). I have to admit I haven't tried the 3D aspects yet apart from unpacking the glasses and trying them on. They seem rather flimsy and oddly constructed (two weird interchangeable nose pieces, neither of which seem too comfortable). However, I don't care if I never use them, but admittedly I bought the TV for its other features, such as size, resolution, black levels, picture quality, etc, and it doesn't disappoint!

5Great TV, 2D & 3D pictures both crisp with great color
    By K. Salinger
We recently purchased the 58" Panasonic 3D HDTV. We were planning on a different unit that was not 3D. However, when we were checking them out at the electronics store they had a special on this TV that included a free Panasonic 3D bluray player with extra 3D glasses and two movies as well. Upon review we discovered that this TV was the top pic for ZD Net's 2010 Plasma TV's for 2D and 3D both so we figured we couldn't go wrong with this unit. Our previous TV was a 50 inch LG Plasma that exploded and died one night, so when considering new TV's we revisted the whole LCD vs. Plasma debate before settling on a Plasma again. I highly recommend you go into a store with multiple TV's, as there is indeed a difference in the look of the images between the technologies in addition to some weird artifact on the screens with the LCD TV's (at least to our eyes). When we were just reading about the TV's we thought for sure we'd end up with an LCD. However, once we were looking at them side by side we had no question that plasma was the right look and "feel" for us. (We compared both old style LCD and the LED LCD styles with the Plasmas)I'm not an AV expert, so I can't talk all the technical details. However, I've discovered that I'm definitely someone who appreciates the feel of film that you get with plasma over the more slick, soap opera look of the LCD screens. However, if you like very bright pictures the LCD might be right for you.All in all, suffice it to say that we love our new Panasonic plasma TV. It far out performs our old LG plasma. When shopping for it, it also seemed to out perform the other plasmas and LCD's in the big box electronics store when we assessed them side by side. (which I strongly recommend you do).If you're excited about 3D, you may want to read my short review about the 3D glasses you need when watching 3D movies. Panasonic TY EW3D10U - 3D glasses - active shutter We were disappointed to find that the fit and comfort of the glasses are terrible for those who have a more petite, narrow bridge of the nose. (Many women and children) To the point that it definitely interferes with enjoyment of watching the 3D movies.Summary: Great TV, received top rating by ZD Net for both 2D and 3D, visually the picture looked the best when compared to other plasmas and LCD's in the big box electronic store. However the 3D glasses by Panasonic offer a terrible fit, so check them out when considering 3D.
