a mixed bag
By Steve Lyle
I bought this tv to replace my panasonic 3d tv from 2010. I wanted the newer panasonic model but came across the lg at a price tag of 2000 with glasses. I researched the specs on line and found on paper this was a great alternative. The one feature I was excited about was the fact that it could display true 24p at 72hz. This was a step up from the panasonic gt50 which displays at 48hz, but with flickering so you are forced to switch to 60hz, or 3:2 pulldown, still looks great. Set up of this tv was simple and the remote reminded me of my sons nintendo wii, kind of neat. 3d looked great, no ghosting or cross talk, and blu ray also looked good, thought I did notice some motion blur watching top gun, but the movie still looked great. Now the bad part. Watching high def programing through my cable box was awful. There was so much motion judder, as if the camera would shake during motion. I played with all my settings and nothing corrected this. Next to my panny, this wasn't even close in picture quality. I really wanted to like this tv, but after finding a review from cnet asia, I knew this was not a defect. The reviewer clearly stated that motion judder on the lg was far more noticeable than other 2012 plasmas. At this point I called amazon and returned the tv for the panny 60in gt50. This tv rocks, I have had it now for two weeks. If you like watching lots of tv this lg model may not be the best choice.

LG60PM9700(2012) vs Panasonic TC-P50ST30
By R.K.
Ok, just brought this today, and decided to write a review, since I'm sure many people are waiting to hear what its like. Haven't done much with it, here are my first impressions:- Looks beautiful out of the box. Nice slim bezel(abt 0.5"), looks very sleek. BUT,in addition to the bezel there's a black stripe running all around the edge of the screen(under the bezel), with is slightly less than 0.5". so effectively, the border is slightly more than 1", but looks nicer compared to say the thick panasonic ones (ST series)- magic remote is cute, but too much work to do simple things (waving it around, trying to hit the correct icon etc. Reminds of the Wii!). I prefer a normal remote, and hope I can set this up with my Harmony one- Quick test of 3D felt much nicer than on Panasonic, as the LG 3D glasses are much lighter, and more pleasant to wear. They don't look as cool as Panasonic though. I tried Avatar, and it looked awesome!- Some people might dislike the 'M' shape stand, I like it.- Can't comment about Black levels, I haven't done any break in yet. Screen color is dark grayish when TV is off. I guess I will first try the WOW calibration disc to see if it makes any changes.- Matte screen is excellent. reflections are cut down significantly.- TV audio is ok, not great, but not bad. Its definitely good enough for normal TV viewing.I will give it 4 stars for now, and update as necessary while I get more familiar with it.Update 5/21-----------Some more impressions, changed the review title, as well as answers to some of the comments:Picture quality continues to impress. TruBlack filter was looking very good, until I put it next to my 2011 model Viera ST30...simply put, the Panasonic is just better. If PQ and black levels were the primary concerns, I would go with Panny. I hooked up my satellite box to both TVs using a splitter, and my kids felt the panny's picture was better, out of the box. After spending some time tweaking the settings, I got the LG to come quite close in terms of colors, at which point their opinion changed. One thing I noted was there is a greenish tinge to the LG picture. This most noticeable when old-style black and while images are being shown on screen. Not sure if that's a defect, or needs more tuning. Any suggestions?TruMotion is very smooth, picture is vey sharp. I watched a basketball game, and it was very nice. the LG picture is noticably brighter than Panny, which is great for sport. However, the LG is showing severe 'soap opera effect'. Will this go away after the TV breaks in?- Magic remote is sluggish, it takes multiple key presses to change channels quickly. Also, after turning on, the TV needs about 30 secs or so to 'load' the applications palette, which contains the icons for Settings and selecting video input. In the past few days, the TV has failed to 'initialize' twice, causing it to reboot. OTOH, I realized the remote does not need to be pointed directly at the screen to be used, the 4-way navigation buttons can be used as well to move between menu choices.Update 5/24-----------Saw the the newer reviews here mentioned judder with satellite TV programming. I don't have cable or satellite, but I did hook it up to my Mohu leaf DTV antenna, and the picture/motion is very sharp and smooth.

Nice HD picture, problems with SD
By Joshua J. Grinstead
I purchased this from Amazon on 4/30 and delivered on 5/8 with the free delivery option. The delivery team unboxed, assembled and tested before leaving. I have no complaints with the delvery crew. I was slightly annoyed that Amazon delayed my shippment for a couple of days. This seems to be the a common theme with Amazon lately when the free delivery option is selected. However, it was free...The TV looks very nice sitting on my cabinet. The borders are thin enough that most people would probably mistake it for an LED. Unlike the TV that I'm replacing, the black tinted screen does a good job of minimizing reflections. I like the chrome plated stand which looks way better than the plastic stands found on cheaper models. The rear jack panel is well laid out with ample connection options. LG includes a ring that keeps your cables wrangled into a nice neat group.Basic set-up was very easy. Upon the first power-up, the TV will prompt you through programming channels and connecting to your Wifi. The picture out of the box was a little to "greenish" and dark for my tastes. I went through the Picture Wizzard 2 process which took about 5 minutes and was well satisfied with the results. Much easier than the calibration disks that I've used in the past. The "magic" remote is quite efficient and works very similar to a WII controller. I wish the remote had an input select button, I find it a little monotonous going through the menus everytime I want to switch to a different source.I spent the first couple of days watching HD programming on Netflix and various blu-ray movies. My intial impressions were that this TV had an awesome picture, one of the best I've ever seen. The problem began when I switched to my non-HD satellite receiver. The picture becomes choppy any time there is motion. I've tried every Trumotion setting from off to 10 with minimal relief. I've never had a problem from this source on the 7 year-old 42" Panasonic Plasma that I'm replacing or the 32" Panasonic LCD in the bedroom. Here is where things get a little crazy. I intended to return the TV because of the above mentioned issues. Before doing so, I bought a replacement TV (Samsung LED 55D7000) locally from HH Gregg. The Samsung is a very nice TV and does not have the same issue with my satellite receiver. When compared side-by-side with the LG on an HD source, the picture just doesn't look as natural. I switched back and forth for a couple of days in contemplation of which set I liked better. Finally, my wife suggested that we get a new HD satellite receiver and return the Samsung. So no more SD source and no more problems....Amazon included 2 free pairs of glasses with the set. I've only briefly played with the 3D portion of the set. It does look pretty cool but I probably won't use this feature much. The flicker of the active glasses would probably give me a headache.I'm tempted to knock this down to 3 stars because I don't feel like the set should have a problem with an SD signal. I didn't because most people buying a top of the line HDTV probably don't care whether or not it plays well with old technology.

Great Item for the Price
By T. Eng
I just bought this TV, and I really like it. It has nearly every type of connector on it, so you can hook up all of your audio/video equipment or even your computer. It was easy to hook up and it gets great HD reception with just my old rabbit ears. It gets better reception than my old TV which is hooked up to a converter box & HD antenna. The sound is good and the picture quality is very nice. I bought mine for $200.00, so look around for a good price before buying.

Amazing HDTV!
By GunsNGlory
I purchased this at one of the larger chain stores for less than 200. You can not beat this right now anywhere.I have it set up in my office with just a plain ole set of rabbit ears. I pick up twelve digital channels and I am basically in a concrete dungeon.Set up was a breeze. Everyone who comes in my office is amazed by the picture and a few have gone out and purchased one for their home.Vizio is a name you can trust and their televisions are second to none. For the money, you can't beat them.I highly recommend any tv they make.

Great Television
By Gregory R. Zars
Vizio has, for some time, been making the best 'cheap' LCD TVs available. This 19" LCD HDTV is by far the best one I have seen under $200 today. I looked around for quite some time. This blows away the comparable priced Dynex and Westinghouse TVs, and it holds its own against the Samsungs and Sharps of the world that are at least $100 more. It has plenty of inputs, and HD signals look impressive on it. Also, I thought non-hd analog and digital also looked good on it. Usually non HD signals are barely tolerable on HD sets, but our 'standard' cable channels look great! Of course, the HD will not be as sharp as larger sets with higher contrast ratios, but this TV does great in our always well lit kitchen.I definitely recommend this TV.

Home Movie Theater!
By R. Melcher
This is the 2nd Samsung DLP that I have owned. The first being a Samsung 56" 5650, it still worked great when upgrading to this model, I just really wanted the new features such as the LED projection and admittedly the extra size (insert joke here). I did the research into the plasma and LCD units and just couldn't rationalize why I would spend comparable money for a 42" TV. Along with this price difference, the plasmas and LCDs, in my opinion, just don't handle the non-HD programming nearly as well as DLP units, too pixilated. As for the HD picture, it's amazing... I would gladly put it up against a plasma or LCD.If you are thinking that this TV might be too big for your room, it's likely not! The viewing distance that I typically have on this TV is around 7-8' away and it's perfect. At this distance it is comparable to the ratio you are experiencing in a good seat at the theater. You can adjust the display to the brightness level of your preference, but just in general I have found the DLP to be a softer more eye friendly image than the LCD or Plasma and comparable to what you experience in a modern theater. For the gamers, this set is the bomb! If you have found yourself changing the brightness level just to be able to see the details in darker games like Gears of War and then switching to watching TV to have a whitewash... there is a quick select button on the remote control that goes to `Game' mode that trasitions the picture to a mode that allows you see stuff the way that the games designers intended them to be seen.I will leave you with this thought... You are just sitting down in your favorite chair, the unbelievable smell of the extra buttered popcorn that your friends and family are passing around dominates the air ... then all of a sudden the intro scene of Star Wars Episode 4 starts rolling across this 67" badboy while the theme song belts out of a well bassed sound system....... Yeah, it's worth it!Randy

Excellent Product, Great Price, Minor Issues
By Mark A. Adams
I bought the Samsung HL67A750 on sale from a local Fry's. The unit was delivered in 4 days for a small fee that included carrying the unit upstairs.I have owned front projectors for 25+ years (starting with the Kloss Novabeam Model One and continuing to my previous Sony VPL-HS20). The Samsung HL67A750 is easily the best unit I have bought for watching TV (and doing a little big screen gaming) and yet was the least expensive TV/Monitor I have bought since my first projector. The visual quality was excellent out of the box with very little fiddling needed. The negatives I found on this unit were minor, but worth mentioning. The sound is weak at best, but was unimportant as I have a 7.1 external sound system. The only moderately annoying issue I found was that the projector is apparently a significant source of flickering IR. This caused my RX-V3800 to think it is receiving an intermittent mute command from a non-existent remote. While this is annoying, it was reduced considerably by changing the placement of the RX-V3800. While the mute still occurs occasionally (primarily when a person stands in front of the TV and reflects back the IR to the receiver) it is now acceptable. In conclusion: The Samsung HL67A750 is an excellent product with only minor issuesLate Jan 08 Update: I have now owned this product for 6 months and it is a great product. I watch it an average of 1 to 2 hrs a day and have found little or nothing to complain about. As I am notorious for second guessing my purchases, this is nothing short of amazing.

Best on the market right now.
By HCC3
First and foremost, size isn't everything. But it's certainly nice to have! When I began researching TVs to replace my 9 year-old Toshiba 36" CRT, I was only looking in the 46-52" range. I'm in the military and move every couple years, so I needed something that I could move safely and that would work in any reasonable environment. This eliminated plasmas, which reputedly do not perform well at higher altitudes. Next I looked at LEDs. The black levels are getting better, although it seems B&W stores continue to carry models 2-3 generations back for the same price you can order the newest models online. But then you run in to the dead pixel issue and the insecurity that comes along with an LED, and the hassle if you have a dead pixel out of the box and you purchased online. Nevertheless, I continued to look at LEDs until going out to a B&M store to actually look at TVs. I knew ahead of time that stores don't calibrate TVs on display and you can't judge picture quality based on what you see in the store, but I did want to get a better sense of the layout, saturation, issues with any uneven lighting of the screen, and so forth. On my way to the back wall with LEDs I walked through an aisle of DLP sets - a couple Sammies and a Mitsubishi. They looked nice, and they were larger than life. Black levels were solid, even when uncalibrated. So I went home and started researching DLPs to compare to the Sony and Samsung LEDs I had previously narrowed my search to. Lo and behold, the Samsung 6xA750 TVs were getting the most favorable reviews by videophiles. They didn't like the sound from the TV's speakers (and for good reason - it sounds like a tin can) but as a monitor everyone seemed to love the LED-based 750 series. I also read briefly about last year's 650 series, but didn't want to bother with bulb-based technology, so I was left with the 61" or 67" version of the A750 series. It seemed more people had QC issues with the 61" than the 67" for some reason, so I decided to bite the bullet and buy the 67", which is so much larger than I originally contemplated that I can only imagine what my wife is thinking about me right now. However, the 67A750 is cheaper than any of the newer-model 52" LED flatscreens I was considering, still weighs less than my old 36" CRT, and the picture is incredible. On blu-ray discs the picture is breathtaking. I haven't seen HD cable or satellite on it (I'm with DirecTV and they provide absolutely NO incentive to upgrade, wanting an arm and a leg to do so) but others with similar observations to mine on other aspects of this TV claim it's the best picture they've ever seen. Those are certainly my sentiments with blu-ray. When I set up my 5.1 home theater it felt like I was *in* the movie, not just watching it. I'm afraid to watch a horror movie on this thing - I might poop myself. Have I mentioned the picture is incredible?Even on SD sources, the TV looks great. It upscales to 1080p, and does a better job of it, in fact, than my Denon receiver, through which all sources run. You will still see some fuzziness around edges if you look closely, for nothing I've found can upscale a SD source perfectly, and you'll see some splotches on a completely black screen, but the picture on this TV even with SD sources is more than acceptable. Perhaps the fuzziness would be even more difficult to see on a smaller TV of equal capability (the 61A750) but what you gain with the extra size when using HD sources outweighs the advantage the 61" might have with SD sources by virtue of its size.I did hundreds of hours of homework over 4 months before buying a TV. I was confident I had made the right choice when I ordered this from Amazon, and am certain of it now that the TV has arrived. One final note, which is about shipping: my experience was as follows. Ordered TV at 1pm central time friday. Amazon package tracker originally said TV would not ship until Tuesday. This is because CEVA tries to get a full truck before pulling out of amazon warehouse. TV actually shipped same day, and arrived in Kansas City at 9am Sunday morning. Monday was Columbus Day. TV was delivered to my house in perfect condition at 9am Tuesday. Five stars for Amazon and CEVA as well as the TV!Make sure you read the reviews on the optional extended warranty here on amazon before you buy it.Summary: The only drawback of this TV is the quality of the sound it outputs. The picture is flawless. Amazon and CEVA did a great job getting the TV to me, which along with outstanding price makes Amazon one of the best sources for this TV.

LG 60PM6700 Not Bad So Far - See update 6/10/2012
By Ryan Lamprecht
I ordered the LG 60PM6700 on Friday March 11th, with Free Supersaver Shipping, and it was already delivered this evening Wednesday March 16. That was fast! Two guys brought it in, set it up, and made sure everything was as it should be before I signed for it. I've only had it for about 6 hours, so I'll give my initial impression, then update it in a few days after having more experience with the set.I had previously purchased a Panasonic TC-P60S30 from WalMart for a really good price, but in the end, I was not happy with its extremely dark picture and overall substandard picture quality, so I returned it.Right off the bat this LG blows away the picture quality of the Panasonic model I had returned. Granted, this one cost me about $300 more, but I can tell you it's already worth it. So far I've tweaked the settings to where I like the color, brightness, contrast, and black levels. I used the Picture Wizard II, but then did a few more minor tweaks to suit my taste, which tends to lean towards a brighter picture. I did have an inexpensive Element Electronics 42" LCD sitting here while I was shopping for a replacement. I can say, the LG doesn't have quite the bright picture and vivid colors the smaller LCD has, but it does completely blow away the 60" Panasonic plasma I had returned. From what I've experienced, heard, and read, Plasma's just don't quite have the bright brilliant pop that LCD TV's do, but this LG looks pretty darn awesome. My tastes run towards a brighter picture, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to getting the settings I want from a TV. So far, I find this LG very pleasing. As far as the bright vivid picture I'm looking for, this set gets me where I want to be.So far, I've viewed some HD Dish Network content (Restaurant Impossible on the Food Network), and it looked great. I then put on Rango through Netflix over the built in WIFI. The jury is still out on that since I'm not sure if my WIFI isn't the best, or the TV's WIFI isn't the greatest, but WIFI over my Panasonic BluRay player seems to look fine. I then connected a LAN cable to the TV and went back to viewing Rango through Netflix, and it looks great; almost DVD quality. I'll report back about the WIFI once I figure out if it's my WIFI network or if the TV's WIFI connection isn't the greatest.Next I watched part of a DVD I burned to back up one of my movies (a DVD copy of a DVD movie) through my Panasonic DMP BDT210 BluRay player. The picture was crisp and clear, but I noticed a lot of motion judder. Even messing with the de-judder setting didn't help. It may just be my copy of the movie, but a couple of times I had previously watched it on the LCD I had and didn't notice the judder at all, so I'll have to watch a few more of my copied movies and report back.I now have a store bought DVD of Alice in Wonderland playing, and it looks absolutely amazing, and with no motion judder at all. I still have to dig out a few of my BluRay disks to check that out, but I can't imagine even a Blue Ray looking much better than the standard DVD already looks. My family room is huge, so I'm sitting about 15 feet away from the TV, and I can count the individual hairs on Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter wig.I took advantage of the free two pair of 3D glasses being offered through Amazon when purchasing the LG set, but they have not arrived yet. I should have them in a day or two, so I'll have to wait to report about the 3D experience.I have noticed one design flaw in the TV stand. Due to the glossy black half inch beveled angle of the front of the stand, it tends to reflect brighter scenes, which is a bit distracting. It's a minor flaw, but if I decide to keep this set, I'll likely paint that thin strip of the stand with some flat black spray paint or use some flat black tape to cover it and eliminate the reflection. Of course if you mount this set on the wall, then this won't be an issue at all. (Update 6/10/2012 - As it turns out, this reflection from the stand is really not an issue. I rarely even notice it at all.)So far I'm very pleased with the set. As I said, I'll report back in a few days.5/20/2012 UpdateIt's now been 4 full days of owning the LG 60PM6700 and thus far it has surpassed my expectations. The picture quality, color, brightness, and black levels, etc... ALL AMAZING! I've been through three other large screen TV's. Let's just say I'm pretty picky when it comes to being satisfied with a television. My first was a 50" Samsung I had for exactly 4 years, and it died. I purchased a LG 55LW6500 LED 3D TV, which I sent back due to horribly intolerable motion blur and judder. I then purchased a 60" Panasonic TC-P60S30, which had an incredibly dark picture and overall substandard picture quality. That one went back after trying to live with it for nearly 3 months. I also own two 40" LCD TV's which are in our bedrooms. Both of the LCDs have great picture quality. Until now, the best of all of them was definitely the Samsung plasma I had, but this new LG blows them all away. The picture detail of the LG 60PM6700 is crystal clear. The colors are awesome, the brightness is great, and the black levels are very good. I have some coppied DVDs that I burned to back up some of my favorite movies. Often the picture quality from the copied DVDs is far less than that of the originals. This TV converts the signal to a higher definition and makes even my worst copies of DVDs look pretty amazing; much better than on any TV I've ever viewed them. The 3D is pretty cool, especially the 2D to 3D conversion. It's pretty cool watching sports (I really only religiously follow drag racing) and flipping through family photos converted to 3D. This TV has so many bells and whistles. I love the apps. The web browser is a bit cumbersome, but with some practice I can see it getting easier. The smart phone app pretty much replaces the Magic Remote, so no real need to purchase that if you have an iPhone or Android.I have yet to see a perfect television. In my opinion, as of yet, they just don't exist. It seems every set has its flaws. What one excels at in one area, has its shortcomings in other areas. I don't believe in rating a TV 5 stars if it has flaws, no matter how pleased I am. It doesn't leave anywhere to go with the rating when you do find that "perfect TV," so it just dilutes the whole rating system. This is why I give this TV 4 stars and not 5.So here are the flaws:*There is some noticeable ghosting on moving objects; some content worse than others.*I've noticed some slight motion judder on occasions, and some motion blur; again only on occasions.*That super thin frame doesn't remain as thin when watching the TV. LG has added an additional black boarder around the actual picture, when then increases the total frame width to about an inch when the TV is turned on. I wish they had not done that because one of the beautiful features about the TV's design is that very thin half inch frame, but even with the addition of about another half in when the set is on, it's still a very thin frame, and very attractive design. Odd that they did that though because it's misleading to claim a super thin frame, if it's only super thin when the set is turned off.*The Active 3D isn't the greatest to watch is even a moderately lit room like mine. In the light of the room your peripheral vision will pick up the flickering of the glasses, when can be a bit distracting, or for some, even annoying. (In a dim setting, you can't see it, so it's not an issue at all, and the 3D looks great. The 3D has some nice adjustment features which does allow the viewer to tweak the 3D effect to their comfort level, and the glasses are very lightweight.)So, as of day 4, I'm amazed at the picture quality, and all this set has to offer. If my opinion changes, I'll surely update my review.Update 6/10/2012I've now owned this television for exactly a month, and I have to say, this is the best television I've ever owned. In my opinion, those rating this TV 2 stars have not compared it in their home to other 60" televisions; but I have. I also believe they aren't realizing that all TVs have their flaws in some area or another. I've compared a lot of sets and I can say with confidence, there simply is no perfect television on the market, and the larger TV, the more magnified the flaws. I have compared the LG 60PM6700 to other 60" televisions I've owned, and to other's I have not owned, and can safely say this TV blows the others away; especially for the money. I originally purchased the television for $1,499 and since then Amazon has lowered the price to $1,299 I called customer service and they promptly refunded me the difference. Trust me when I say, for the money, even at $1,499 you can't go wrong with this television. The picture quality, along with all its bells and whistles, blows away much more expensive TVs that make all sorts of grand claims.

Updated review - Owned for nearly 1 year now
By Don
I have to agree with one of the other reviewers. I had the tv for about a week before the software asked to update. I wish I had known before I allowed it to update, because the picture was pretty good up until that point (I hadn't done a lot of picture adjustments yet), but once the software updated, I got the same effects as the other reviewer. Ghosting motion whenever anything moves somewhat quickly. Soap opera effect on some channels - it seems to be more pronounced on certain channels. The blurry motion, or "ghosting", happens all the time, no matter the quality of the input source, however the higher quality channels definitely look much better than the lower quality channels. It looks like a funhouse mirror effect around a face or body whenever the motion is quick or they walk in front of a fence or other object that has a criss-cross pattern. I too contacted LG via email and a phone call. They said they were aware of the problem caused by the firmware update & their engineers are working on fixing it. However, they made it sound like it would be done in a couple of days. It's been just over a month, and no updates yet. I'm a bit frustrated because, as it is, the tv is worse than my cheap 40" Dynex LCD flat-screen with a 60hz refresh rate, and I bought the plasma thinking that with the 600hz refresh rate, I would never have to see any blurred motion again.I have since made several, and I mean several, adjustments to the settings to try and minimize the problem. So far, the best I've found is with the Noise Reduction set to "high", and the TruMotion set on "user" and the effect all the way up to 10. This doesn't always seem to be the best set-up, but overall, it did help. I still play with the settings when I get irritated with the ghosting, but it pretty much just frustrates me more.I didn't return the tv, because I am holding out hope that LG will get the problem fixed soon, and because I put another $100 into 2 more pairs of 3D glasses (got 2 pairs free) that I didn't want to have to return. If LG does get the software problem fixed, I would definitely give the tv 5 stars. The problem is, how long will that take?On a side note, the 2D to 3D conversion is a pretty cool function to have. It makes any show you want into a 3D picture. As I don't have a 3D Blu Ray player yet, I can't compare to what a real 3D movie would look like, but for now, it's a pretty cool option on the tv.One other negative - no Amazon Instant Video in the internet apps. The LG representative replied via email that he would put in a "request to the factory" to let them know that I had asked that this app be added, but who knows how far that will actually go. I have a Roku box I can use for access to Amazon content, but it would be really nice not to have to plug it into this tv just to watch my Amazon movies, since I already have the Roku hooked to a different tv.UPDATE 7-28-2012A couple of days ago I finally found a new firmware update available. I downloaded the newest firmware, and voila, the ghosting is gone...so is the soap opera effect. I have now given the tv 5 stars, as it really does have a beautiful picture. I thought about giving it 4 stars for not having Amazon Instant Video as part of the internet apps, and because it took so long for LG to update the firmware, but I bought the tv knowing that the Amazon content wasn't there. Just remember to go back into your picture settings and turn off (or down) the Noise Reduction and turn off the TruMotion controls. This will now make your picture look much better during scenes with fast motion.P.S. Only a few days before this update came through, I found that I could set the tv on the "game" setting, and this took away most of the problems described above. Too bad I wasn't smart enough to try this way earlier - I had done just about everything else.UPDATE 2-9-2013The tv still has a beautiful picture, and I like it a lot, but a few months ago, the picture started to get "jerky" when watching anything through the tv's Netflix app. I wrote an email to LG, but got their standard "sorry about your problem" non-answer and asked that I call customer service for more help. Since I also have Netflix through my blu-ray player, I just stopped using the tv's app for a while. In December, I decided to check it out again, and the tv's Netflix app was still doing the same thing - picture would get very jerky after only a few minutes, and then it would come and go. I called their customer service, and they had me go into the tv menu and reset the apps using the "Initialization of Premium" menu choice. This didn't help. They told me if this didn't work to call back, and I'd probably need to have a technician look at it. I only have a couple months of warranty left, but I'm not sure I want someone to tear my tv apart for this, so I haven't yet called back. Although it does bug me that it doesn't work properly, I feel like it has to be a software problem, not the wi-fi module, because it seems to work fine with the other apps I've tried. For this reason, I've dropped the tv down to 4 stars now. I still may call for service, but I haven't decided yet.

plasma vs LCD
By Jeffrey Liu
I was just a regular Joe looking for a good deal for a new 3D TV on line. The brand did not matter to me as much. My biggest struggle was trying to decide between Plasma vs LCD/LED and active 3D vs passive 3D. I am not in the gaming. I just wanna get a great TV so I can enjoy it after long hours of work. I finally picked this Plasma TV with a newer version of the active shutter goggles. So far, it has been a week and I love it. I think I have made the right decision. This Plasma TV still gives me the great quality of TV in 3D or 2D. The goggles are very light weight. The smart TV features are cool and nice. This TV truly delivers as described on Amazon. The only complaint I have about this TV is that its WiFi is weak. I am not sure if it is the problem from the TV or from my wireless connection. The WiFi still delivers what it is supposed to 95% of the time. I think it is still not too bad for a "smart TV". I would recommend this product to anyone.

Amazing TV!!
By jjperron75
Did a lot of research before buying this TV. I have always owned LED/LCD TVs in the past and to be perfectly honest I was a Plasma hater and never thought I would own one. I originally was going to get theSamsung UN60ES8000 60-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D Slim LED HDTV (Silver). I along with a lot of others thought plasma was a step down. Boy was I wrong! This TV has the most amazing picture I have seen, and that right out of the box. I haven't even adjusted any settings yet. Some key things I was worried about when buying a plasma was that they always seemed so much darker than the LEDs, I believe it might be the was the stores display them because the TV in the store display was playing the Dark Night and it seemed very hard to see. However once I had them put in a different DVD the TV seemed extremely bright. I owned a 55 inch SAmsung LED prior and now seeing them side by side I can tell what I have been missing. First the colors are extremely clear and accurate, I noticed how washed out an LED TV picture is now. Also the motion blur I got from any fast moving things is not a factor on this plasma as it was on my last TV. If your a fan of 3D the 3D on this TV is great. No crosstalk like early 3D models. I was also concerned about the glare, I have a sliding glass door in the room I have the TV as well as a bay window directly behind. Sure there is a little glare from the window but no more than I had with my LED, its just something that you have to deal with on any TV. This TV also has no issues viewing in the day time with the entire room lit up.Now for the Cons... the Smart TV features aren't quite as smart as they think they are. The voice control works surprisingly well unless you have the TV up loud then it has a difficult time hearing your voice. You can press a button on the remote and talk into the remote(there is a microphone on it) which will work but if you have the remote in your hand already why not just push the button. I guess this is good for web browsing and being able to speak any text. The motion control on the other hand doesn't work so hot, I actually haven't even got it to understand I am waving at it and trying to use it. It seems to only attempt to work when the room is very bright. Voice good. Motion not so good. The only other Con which I guess is pretty common with a Plasma but new to me as this is my first is the buzzing the TV makes. I am sure I will get used to it and I don't hear it when the TV volume is up, but if there is a show on and there is a quiet part of the show I can hear the buzz. Not so loud that I can't ignore and live with it though. So my overall opinion of this TV is I love the thing. You drop this kind of money on a TV it has a lot to live up to and its very easy to get buyers remorse. I am so happy I made the choice to buy this set.I have only had the TV for a day so If I think of anything more I update my review. Ask any questions and ill do my best to answer.

Sub-screen spider craking , hundreds complaints on same issue but Samsung Poor quality and support
By Raj
TV developed sub-screen spider cracks and suddenly died , Samsung's own tech noted ,"No External damage to screen" . Even after hundreds of complaints by honest consumers , Samsung won't take responsibility for their $3000 worth of poor consumer product. They know Thermal Expansin issues are causing their plasmas to premature failure, but they won' t admit, because they sell millions of units. It is not acceptable. Consumers Please Beware, no quality or consumer support here with samsung. Good luck shopping.

Best TV I have ever seen
By Knoxman
First, let me say that last year I bought the Samsung D8000 and Panasonic VT30 and returned them because I was not completely satisfied. The D8000 had an extremely loud, constant buzz that was too loud to be able to be ignored. It also had significant problems with "brightness pops". Otherwise, it had incredible color and picture. After I returned the Samsung, I went with all the recommendations and went with the Panasonic VT30. I was supremely disappointed with the Panasonic. I never felt that it had an amazing or even impressive picture. It was completely lack luster to me. The color on the Panasonic was also below average (significantly worse than my three year old Samsung $600 720p plasma). The E8000 is the most amazing TV I have ever seen. The color and definition on the E8000 are amazing. The features are awesome. It appears that the 3D is better than the D8000 as well (much less ghosting). It does still have a small buzz to it but it is no where near as loud as the D8000 and is not annoyingly noticeable. I have not seen any problems with brightness pops yet/either. In summary, I highly recommend this TV!
