4A fair performer and a fair to good value for the price.
By sh
A fair performer and a fair to good value for the price. As of June 2012 Panasonic doesn't even list this model, or any 24", on it's web site anymore even though it's a 2012 model. The move is to larger models (e.g, 32"). So if you want the smaller 24" size, you might want to shop around for price and buy now before these become as scarce as CRTs. This is a decent TV. Not a lot of settings but more than enough for most folks and the defaults will probably serve most folks well. The tiny loudspeakers sound like the tiny loudspeakers that are put in all these thin, low real estate TVs. This won't sound like your home theater system unless you plug the audio output form the TV into your receiver. Otherwise, it's going to sound like all the other TVs and laptops with tiny, tinny, loudspeaker. There is only one HDMI input so this might best be mated with a single BD/DVD/network-link player or game/movie-streaming device. The good news, it doesn't buzz incessantly like my Samsung znd hasn't committed electrical suicide like my LG.Btw, order your HDMI cable from amazon when you order the TV -- no point running over to, say, Best Buy, in the car at the last minute and paying $30, $40, $60 for an HDMI cable -- the Amazon cables that cost $1-$10 will work just fine.

4Read the reviews and specs before buying
By Garrett Schmidt
I purchased this TV during the black Friday lightning rounds. I was among the many that didn't realize the limitations of the TV before buying. Because Amazon has both the 24 and 32 inch models on the same page it is easy to misread what you are actually getting. Amazon should separate the reviews and customer pictures for each model so that people don't anticipate something that they aren't actually getting. I should have done more research and read the specs from Panasonic's website as well...That being said, it was a $159 set and I really like almost everything about it.Pro's24inch is 1080PGame mode makes picture much better (Picture is sharp and bright)Quite thinLow power consumptionCon'sOnly 1 HDMI input (thought that there were more because of the 32 in reviews)Picture quality and viewing angles could be slightly better (But then again, this is a sub $200 TV)NOT LED (Again the way that both the 32in (LED) and the 24in (LCD) are combined in the same page one would assume that both are LED, but unfortunately this is not the case.)So my advice to anyone considering this TV, buy it as long as you are OK with 1 HDMI and are looking for a 1080P panel. LED is missing, but LCD is fine. Good luck finding something comparable for the price, it's not easy to do.

5Perfect 32in. TV
By Alex
I identified this TV at the local electronic store. Loved the image and it was the only one with a real thin profile. They were soldout. It gave me the opportunity to compare this Panasonic with the LG and the Samsung. While the latest were both brighter, the colors were not true. The Panasonic was standing out. Even my 11 y.o. son saw the difference.Pricing is very decent as well.Love it.

5W O W, AWESOME, Look Out Sony, Samsung is HERE!!
By C. Loftis
I researched HDTVs very carefully, my final buying choices were this one and a Sony XBR. Boy am I glad I bought the Samsung. This TV is AWESOME!! I never want to cut it off. A big plus for this set is the 2 HDMI inputs. I used one for a DirecTV HD receiver and the other for a Panasonic S97 upconversion DVD player. The picure is truly just outstanding, straight out of the box. I tweaked around with the colors a little, took a little red out but for the most part left the default settings alone. I have had the set now for three weeks and I have no complaints at all. It has plenty of inputs for all your video gear and you are able to label each input on the screen. The manual is well written and easy to understand. Besides the HDMI inputs, it has a WISEhttp://amzn.com/dp/B000F2PHDI/?tag={komponelektr-20} feature which allows you to hook up a USB jumpdrive and display jpeg photos with amazing clarity. It will play mp3 files too. It has a game mode to enhance video game play and you can hook your computer up to it and use it as a monitor. This set does everything, and does it all very well. The speakers are hidden in the cabinet, which gives it a very cool design. There is some sacrifice of sound quality, but it still sounds very, very good.I think Samsung has come up with a wonderful set, and balanced features very well with price and performance. I own the 61'' model, they make the same set in smaller sizes too.

4Great TV!
By Carlos Engler
I bought this TV for my home theater, essentially for watching movies from DVDs. I also bought an upconverting DVD player and I am very satisfied with the quality of the image. This TV is capable of receiving off-air digital television (DTV), both for standard and hig definition TV. The HDTV reception is very good. Be sure you use the best possible connection from your video sources to this TV for the best possible picture. The only thing that bothers me (so far...) is the fact that whenever you try to reprogram the channels (if you adjust the antenna, for example), the previously programmed channels are deleted and replaced.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, but I think that the prices of DLP TVs should come downs pretty soon.

5Best Rear Projection DLP TV you can buy!
By Wayne
I spent several months researching the current TV's, plasma, LCD, rear projection (LCOS, DLP, LCD), and even a front projector. And of course, checking out each brand from each type of TV, both online, and in stores. Basically, just trying to find the best price vs. performance and something that would suite my needs.I needed a BIG screen, over 50", so this ruled out LCD and Plasma since they are WAY too expensive above that size. Then I also needed something looked great for playing HD games (Xbox), watching HD movies (HD-DVD), and HD TV (Cable HD DVR). Which really means an awesome 1080p TV. After looking around at various stores, it became clear the Samsung and Sony models were going to be the best bet for rear projection under $3k.Ultimately, the Samsung did win hands down. Thanks to low price on amazon, and a picture that was just as good, if not better than the Sony in some cases! It has an excellent 10,000:1 contrast ratio for very bright white's and perfect black levels. There is also no ghosting at all, and the rainbow effect (which I have seen on previous DLP's) is virtually non-existent. Which makes this set perfect for gaming. Also no audio sync issues as with some of the older Samsung models. In the past month of owning this TV, I've only seen the rainbox effect twice, and it was in a B&W movie. None of the serveral other people that have watched this TV have noticed it at all. They just comment on how awesome everything in HD looks on the TV - it's quite perfect really. Out of the box, the picture is almost perfect. I just had to slightly lower the contrast, and it's good to go. And thanks to easy to navigate menu's, this is very easily done. While they are a bit sluggish (takes 1-2 seconds to appear), they have plenty of options. When it comes to Inputs, it does appear to be lacking on the HDMI side. While 2 inputs is standard for most models, I could really use at least 3 or 4. 2 is OK for your DVD Player and DVR, but with computers and game console also starting to use HDMI, you can quickly run out of ports. Luckily, a cheap HDMI switch can solve that issue. There is also a PC (VGA) input on the TV that is *suppose* to accept a 1920x1080 resolution at 60hz, per the users guide. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get it to work with a computer at that resolution yet (tried 3). It'll take 720p, all the way up to 1920x1200, but since that's not a native resolution, there is some cropping. This really is a minor issue , since that high of a resolution from a PC via VGA port won't be all that clear anyways. You'd really need HDMI to truly appreciate 1080p. And there are now true HDCP compliant HDMI video cards out now. The xbox will output to this TV at 1920x1080 via the VGA port, but there is a 1-3" border, and the screen is tilted.Figures though, even though its got the VGA port, it's still a TV, not a PC Monitor. :) The TV won't send information to the source indicating what the correct resolution, refresh rate, and other settings it needs - as a PC monitor would. Future xbox updates may help address some output issues as well. For now, I'm waiting for MS to release HDMI output. And to wrap up this long review, here is a list of Pro's and Con's.Pros:* High Contrast Ratio* Fast color wheel to eliminate rainbows* No Ghosting at all* Perfect for gaming (no audio/video sync issues)* Good viewing angles (for rear projection)* Nice variety of inputs* Only about 17" Deep for the 61" model* Weighs only 80lbs!!* Easy setup out of the box* Relatively inexpensive* With it's thin black border and silver control panel, it physically looks GREAT.Cons:* VGA input has some limitations* Needs more HDMI inputs* Plastic bezel feels somewhat cheapAnd that's about it for this TV. Any other "cons" such as limited viewing angles and wobulation (google it) are going to affect ALL DLP's at this time; so I won't use that to effect my review. Otherwise, both myself, and many friends who come by to watch movies and play games, are very impressed with this TV. It's quickly converting them from their favorite brand over to Samsung. So this TV is highly recommended if you need a big HD 1080p TV for around $2k.

4Could have been perfect
By Prime
(Note, I am ranking this TV 3.5 stars)I have a Sony 46" XBR3 but have been dying to upgrate to at least a 60". So when I see Samsung has two 65"ers in their 2010 line up (the 6500 and the not-yet-released-at-this-time 8500), I knew that I have to get one of them now.First a few disclaimers on my purchase decision:1. I only want to buy a LED LCD from Sony or Samsung--it's a personal thing. No Plasma/regular LCD/projector. So there aren't that many choices2. Ideally I would have bought a local-dimming LED LCD since it will have the best contrast/dark level. But it's not available for 60"+ and I don't see it in the horizon in the next 18 months.3. I hang the TV on the wall and only use the TV for display only. So all the other bells and whistles on sound--I don't care and won't review here4. while 3D can be cool, I think it's over-hyped and doesn't worth another $500-1K for the 8500. I also need the TV now so 6500 it is!5. This purchase is a "upgrade" to my 46" Sony XBR3, which was a decent top model 3-4 years ago. I also bought a Samsung 46" b650 LCD last year, so some of my comments will inevitably be compared against these TVs.Pros:1. Aesthetics. At 1.2" thickness, this unit is super slick, especially if you hang it on the wall--a great visual asset to our family room. Viewing aside, the glossy screen actually makes the unit looks more elegant.2. Picture quality is not bad, when you can overlook some uniformity issues in bright/solid color scenes (see my cons). No clouding/flash light issues in dark scenes that are common with some LCD TVs. Excellent contrast and in terms of viewing angle; I don't see any significant degradation even past 45 degrees.Cons:1. There is only 1 big con IMO that makes this a 3.5-star instead of a 5-star The TV has some uniformity issues (vertical bands/lines of a different shades). This is especially blatant if you are watching bright scenes (i.e., watching the World Cup in a sea of grass green or in a DVD player menu when the background is supposed to be one solid color). At first, I thought this is due to a defective TV so I called AMZN for an exchange. (BTW, Kudos to AMZN concierge for the excellent CS.) But the 2nd TV also has the same problem, amid milder that I can probably "live with". I now think the problem is due to the edge-lit LED design as the bands seem to exhibit a pattern and especially obvious in the center (furtherst from the edge). Minus 1 star here!(Other cons):1. No wireless adapter included. Samsung, you just lost a potential customer who could potentially give you extra revenue from using the internet apps. Instead, you decided to nickle and dime me on the wireless adapter that probably worths $10 mfg cost (and no way am I buying it for $79-100).2. For whatever reason, Samsung decides to use a glossy screen on all their LED TVs. My windows are behind the sofa so I see all the glares during daytime viewing. A downgrade from my Sony XBR3 or Samsung B650 which have matte screens. Minus .5 star here!3. The chrome TV base is very cheesy and ugly. I am glad that I get to remove this for hanging the TV. It was also a pain to remove the base as well. In my Sony XBR3, you can remove the screws and the TV would still sit securely on the stand, so you can take your time to lift the TV and hang it. But the C6500 base is poorly designed that as soon as you remove the screws that secure the base, the TV would fall and have no where to go but up--a challenging task you if only have 2 people for the task.3. It's impossible to access the I/O panel once you hang the TV (I have a low-profile mount). I don't understand why they don't leave a few extra ports on the side.4. If I have to be picky, the remote looks cheap. It looks like a remote from a 10 year old VCR, totally not matching the sleek glass bezel of the set. I use an universal Remote so it's not a big issue for me.5. Finally, this TV, like any other 120Hz or 240Hz TVs out there, has a motion enhancing feature (Motion Plus) that makes a lot of movies become video-like (instead of film), i.e., the soap opera effect. Some people likes it, most don't. Personally I don't but you can easily turn off the feature or I use the custom setting to keep the blurr reduction at 10 while reducing the judder to 4.

3Beautiful, but one serious flaw
By Brandon St Amant
I purchased this TV without doing any research at all (which is unusual for me), just walked into the store and took one look at this beauty and knew it was coming home with me. Unfortunately, I should have done my research.Don't get me wrong, the television is beautifully assembled, looks phenomenal wall mounted and has a fabulous picture. The thing is, it has these "white spots". Yes after about 5 minutes of watching I noticed during the bright scenes there were at least 5 spots about 1 cm in diameter each, located at the middle top and bottom of the screen, and also in the top left corner. The spots at the bottom of the screen almost looked like they could be related to the screw position for the stand (this was wall mounted though), but spots were also present on the top of the TV in the middle and top left. I decided my panel was defective. But I went into 2 other stores and their display models had the exact same "white spots"! Even though they aren't visible in all scenes, I couldn't justify the price of this TV for anything less than perfect. Also, I wasn't that pleased with the ability of this TV to handle motion, especially fast motion like football, and there was some juddering during movies, even though I tinkered with the Motion Plus settings quite a bit. The picture is quite vibrant but has an overall slightly "soft" appearance, almost like you are looking at it through fog. It wasn't that noticeable until I replaced the TV with the Samsung PN63C8000 63-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, Black, which has a phenomenally better picture, has 3D capability, and is about $500 cheaper.I would definitely recommend Samsung's high end plasma line over this LED model. Much better picture and no panel flaws. Seriously Samsung, what's up with the "white spots"?????

5Big and Beautiful
By Louis F. Detulleo
This TV needs more reviews! I would give the tv 4.5 stars, not 5. I got it a couple weeks ago now. Overall it is an awesome TV, beautifully designed. Picture quality in HD and Blu-ray is amazing. SD is perfectly acceptable. The streaming movie internet apps are cool. Inputting text is a bit clunky however. Can't seem to get the facebook to work. Speakers are kinda sucky but you have to expect that on such a thin TV--got to get a home theater set up. There is a bit of light leak at the 4 corners of the TV, but again I think you kind of have to expect this on such a large LED edge lit tv. It can definitely be minimized with adjusting the picture settings. If you want the biggest TV you can get without being really rich, this is the one to get. :)Cheers.

4This TV is one of the best
By Corey Fisher
I bought this TV from Amazon and received it the next day via UPS. I hooked it up and it works flawlessly. The set-up is amazingly simple, the TV is very easy to set up and put together. Everything is explained in detail and gives video demonstrations. I went ahead and calibrated the TV using a calibration DVD and the TV offers some of the most superb and realistic picture quality I have seen yet. The 3D is also much improved and it's nice they threw in 4 pairs of glases with it. I have found that if you follow the directions that they show you very clearly in the demonstrations and follow the process, the TV responds very accurately and very well. The motion controls are probably the only thing that needs a very little amount of work, but I mean, compared to a Kinect, it basically works the same way and is not more or less accurate then the Kinect, either. The TV's black levels are the best I have seen for an LED set, coming close to the best of Plaasma's, motion rate is extremely enhanced and 3D performance has no visible crosstalk or juttering as in old sets. All in all, this is the best performing and high-est tech TV set available. It's also extremely fast with the dual core processing, everything you do is a snap. Apps load very quickly, internet is decent and the TV responds well. I have not had any issues from a weeks use of the TV. It has worked flawlessly.***UPDATE*** after further testing I have found one flaw. The media hub works well, however, Netflix has an issue. It will only work half the time. Half the time it will not load a video and the TV will reset, the other half it works fine. I haven't lost any settings yet, however, it is annoying. I have reduced to 4 stars sInce it isn't the end of the world and will likely be fixed with a simple software update. I watch a lot of Netflix, so Samsung, I know you will read these first reviews. This software bug with Netflix needs to get fixed. I am an advanced tech lead for Sprint, I've already tried everything to T/S the issue and other people reviews state the same. However, my TV has not had its settings reset like others. This is my only small complaint, everything else works fine.***UPDATE #2*** There was some kind of update to the TV last night and the resetting seams to have stopped during Netflix and seams a bit more responsive, for now, but still not a guarantee that it's fixed. I'm not sure what kind of update it was because the damn TV is so fast, I didn't see it long enough before it was done. I'm pretty sure I will need to wait and test it more. However, it seams to have stopped. The other thing I have noticed is that the LED lights at the bottom of the screen in the middle seam brighter then the rest of the lights, but this is only noticeable in pure 100% darkness, which you'll see anyways, because it's still and LCD anyway you look at it. I have also purchased a PN51E8000 TV for downstairs, it appears that the PN51E8000 has much darker blacks in pure darkness, in fact, it's not far off from an OLED, however, I'll post a review of that one later.***UPDATE #3*** it appears that the reset issue with Netflix only appears when the smart hub has issues connecting with Samsung. I have noticed that on weekdays, it works fairly well and can connect to apps just fine. However, on weekends, it appears Samsungs servers can't currently handle the traffic as I seam to get "network interference" issues and most apps won't connect, even though my connection to the Internet is fine at 25mbps+ and when the apps are having difficulty and you try to get on Netflix, it has trouble playing videos and gets stuck and then resets. Other then these few small issues I have had with the TV and the connection to Samsungs media hub, I continue to be blown away by the stellar 3D, the ridiculous crispness of the picture and the smooth motion rate and I have gotten use to the voice commands. I was originally having problems with it recognizing my voice, but after turning down our fan in our room, it seams to recognize my voice very well now. So Samsung, hear me out... The network interference problems have to get resolved and Netflix needs to be updated so it simply rebuffed instead of turning off the TV. If this happens, I'll be a happy camper.***UPDATE #4*** alright Samsung techs, here's one for ya and even though this doesn't actually reflect my review of the TV itself, im not sure where the problem lays. I have an iPad as well as two iPhone 4s's, all running iOS 5.1. The iPhones work great with the remote control, they always find the tv and connect and work well. However, the iPad 2 Samsung remote does not work. It will work right when you connect and allow it, but as soon as you don't use it for awhile, it stops working and never reconnects, it gets an "unknown network error" and disconnects. I was so fixated on getting it fixed that I even hard reset my iPad 2 and reinstalled the app and it still does it. The only way I am able to use it is if I go into the TV settings to network all share and delete the iPad from the allowed list and re-add it, until it stops working again after I don't use it for awhile. Samsung, it is an absolute necessity that this is fixed ASAP!! I use my iPad to browse the net while I watch tv and having the Samsung remote on it to control the Tav is essential. I am a total multi tasker! Gosh I hope they read my post.***UPDATE #5*** the Netflix app has no reset now in almost two weeks and we watch Netflix almost on a daily basis... It has work flawlessly. The set seems to be performing much better after a few weeks break-in (normal). I think this a great set, but Samsung still needs to update the iPad remote app so it can actually work. I think this TV and PN51e8000 will be our last TVs for a few years until OLED TVs become mainstream in 2014-2015. Manufacturers say they will have mainstream 55inch sets for around $2k. Until then I might actually look into the evolution kits that will come out to upgrade its features, if they are a good price, I might pick one up. If not, then these will do until OLEDs are it.***UPDATE 6*** April 22nd, I have received another update and have had 0 problems with set since. I guess that fact it needed to break in held true. The TV has worked flawlessly, I can't imagine getting much better until OLED hits mainstream. The picture quality has increased as well with the update. The voice recognition now works a lot better, but if you have fans or kids or noise in general, it still has a hard time unless dead silent, but that would be expected. This is my final update.

5believe the hype
By Eugene Yoon
I just received my TV, set it up and tested it out. First of all, installation was a breeze, camera and mic work beautifully as do the motion controls.More importantly, the image is perfect. I don't know what these other reviewers are going on about but screen uniformity is phenomenal and on par with any of the other LED LCD tvs I've seen. Blacks are deep and inky and with the backlighting on the factory default, I saw no evidence of flashlighting or light creep.3D works like a charm. Set the PS3 to recognize the new screen and the new 3D glasses pair with the TV quickly and easily and don't mind at all if I look away from the screen. Tested out Transformers 3D (don't laugh, I have 6 year old son and he loves them) and the image was crisp, detailed with very little artifacting or crosstalk. I fired up wipeout HD 3D and that performed beautifully as well. For me, it was between this TV and the new Panasonic line up. While I agree that the plasmas handle blacks better than LCD screens, I prefered the image crispness of an LED LCD panel. I am not disappointed and more than happy with the es8000.

15 Stars Revised to 1 (60 inch screen review)
By Mack
This TV is absolutely incredible. I got the 60 inch and bought direct from Samsung's website as I had a discount. I love the design of the actual TV, it's base is sharp looking and the TV and bezel are so thin it's going to look amazing mounted on my stone wall. The resolution and black levels are amazing. When I first saw the motion control demonstrated at Fry's when they first got them in, it looked completely unresponsive, but after getting mine, I now know why that was. The room has to be bright. They were demonstrating it in a very dim room. It doesn't see your hand movement completely if it's dark. It is totally responsive and much more fluid than I originally thought. Honestly speaking it's REALLY cool, but I doubt I'll end up using it that much, maybe for my fantasy football app during football season or when I can't find the remote and I want to turn the volume up. I bet Samsung will create a wider range of uses for the motion control through updates later on. So I feel like there is more to come from the motion control as well as the voice control. The voice control works really well. There isn't a huge list of commands, only ones on the screen, but it's neat and very impressive to people to speak to your TV, definitely peaking on the wow factor. Like I said, there aren't a ton of voice commands, but I feel this is a good base for expansion by Samsung updates. The amount of apps is plentiful and I love the fact that Samsung has introduced the Evolution Kits. What a great idea. Just a simple software upgrade instead of selling a TV when something new comes out.Now for my only negative thus far into my purchase. I rented The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on bluray to test how good the quality of the TV really is. It's phenomenal. HOWEVER, once the screen went to black as the credits rolled you DO see spotlighting from the corners. It's weird because you don't see it when you're on non-HD channels and they black bar the left and right sides. In fact the ONLY time I've seen the spotlighting is during the credits of the movie. You don't see it in dark scenes or when the movie in letterbox format. If someone can explain why I only saw it during movie credits and not when in letterbox, that would be great. I know this TV is edgelit not backlit, so the pixels aren't turned off.All in all it's a tiny complaint for such an awesome TV that is packed with features no other TV has right now. How often are you watching just a black screen? Never. So seeing spotlighting during credits I really could careless, but for those who are completely obsessive may find it annoying. I am not going to knock down such an awesome TV a star over something like that. When you put this thing on your mantle, wall, or TV stand your jaw is going to drop at how sweet it looks even when it's off. Then you say "Hi TV - Power On" and wave your hand at the screen and it just gets even cooler.**UPDATE** 4/14/12Voice recognition actually has a lot more capabilities than I originally thought. When creating a Samsung account instead of remote control analog typing which can be tedious or the motion control which hurts you arm keeping it up for awhile typing out a long email, you can just say your full email address into the controller and it will get it pretty damn close. You can also say your name and all that and it did it no problem. My name is Chris, so it's not that complicated, but my last name has 2 Ts in a row and it got that somehow instead of just hearing one. Impressive. What is stupid is that you can't use the voice for entering in a URL or stuff like that. Why did they take away the QWERTY remote? Stupid. Also, to keep from having to manually log in, you can take screen shot of your face and it will log you in and all your PERSONAL setting from reading your face. That is super cool if you have people who like different settings.Exploring the app store more, there is not a whole lot there, but I expect it to grow since this TV just came out a couple weeks ago. What I am REALLY hoping for is that they bring back the Yahoo apps. The immediate predecessor TVs had Yahoo apps and this one doesn't. A big thing for me was having Yahoo Fantasy Football on screen live updating while I'm watching games. I really don't understand why they dumped Yahoo or why the app store is so scant right now. They have dozens and dozens of kid friendly apps that probably make great use of the motion control, but how does that help me with no kids. I don't care about the Kids section or Family Story. Give me my Fantasy football app. I'm not kidding, they have like 4 sports apps and 25 kids apps. COME ON SAMSUNG!! Please expand on that soon. I am still trying to figure out how to rearrange the Smart Hub, it's unclear. I'll have to check the manual I guess.I absolutely LOVE the AllShare Play. I just plug my external hard drive with downloaded movies into one of the USB inputs in the back and I got a full movie player and organizer. You can operate everything from the remote. It plays all the formats I've tested so far. Some had the volume kind of low, but if you choose the AUTO VOLUME setting it will automatically correct a volume issue.Lastly, the amount of storage space on the TV is 785mb, but I've downloaded ZERO of anything and 407mb of that space are already used. I don't even feel like THAT many apps are downloaded already. You got Facebook, VUDU, Hulu, Netflix, MLB.TV, Pandora, Youtube, MTV Music Meter, NBA Gametime, Fitness VOD and CinemaNow. That's it. Then you have the Fitness, Kids, and Family Story programs which I think is what sucks a lot of that space away. Most of the apps are 5mb and below so I guess you can still download a lot of them, but I don't know what else I may be able to download as I explore more and 785mb seems skimpy.**UPDATE** 4/15/12AND..... I got a faint vertical yellow line of pixels (very thin) across the left quarter panel of the screen. Top to bottom. At first I thought it was an entire line of dead pixels, but I turned the TV off then back on and the line was gone. Few minutes later it's back again. It goes away then it comes back. It comes back EVERY time whenever I click on the Smart Hub. Also, there is so very faint gray lines across the whole screen that you can see during light scenes. In some parts, it looks like a 3D rectangular boxing. I though it may be some interference, but it's on all channels now and it wasn't there before. It only appeared at the same time as the faint yellow line.Contrary to some other reviews knocking on Samsung's service, I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and was speaking to a live person after 2-3 button pushes. They are having a service person come out to fix it. If he can't fix it then they will exchange or refund my money they say. The entire service call was 22 minutes and that included describing what was wrong to 2 people and being on hold for 2 minutes. So as of right now, their customer service has been great. However, we'll see how the repair goes. They say I will get a call tomorrow from them to set an appointment.I changed the review from 5 stars to 2 for right now because I was SOOO careful getting this out of the box and putting it on the TV stand. I don't know if the TV is super fragile because it's so thin, but I treated it like it was regardless. Maybe it got bumped around during shipping, but there was zero box damage and it worked fine for 5 days before the line appeared. I think it was just a quality control issue. Two stars, because this thin little line coming and going is super annoying. Screen is everything. I am very tempted to give it 1 star because it's been 5 days. But if they can fix it, and it never comes back and I never have an issue again, I'll raise the review up again. I think I am the only 60 inch screen review, so watch out.**UPDATE** 4/23/12Repair company contracted by Samsung came out last Tuesday (a day after scheduling, great response time) to diagnose problem. He typed some code on the remote to do a color test. I asked how he did that, but he said it's strongly advised you don't do the color screen test yourself because you can damage your screen. Anyways, the color test makes the whole screen go red, blue, green, white, black, or a pattern of colors. When he did this we saw that on blue, all the pixels were dead in the line top to bottom, as well as little speckles of dead ones around it. It was weird because on every other color the pixels worked, so maybe just the blue pixels were dead? Maybe this is why the line looked yellow when just watching tv. This line is so weird because it goes away sometimes. Even when it's there it's barely noticeable unless it's pointed out to you or it's a very light colored or bluish scene. The repair guy said that the screen is ruined and it needs to be replaced. I was like wtf do you mean, the screen IS the TV, it's like an inch thick. I don't fault him because he's not even a Samsung employee, he's contracted by them. This was weird. He said it's Samsung's policy to allow 10 days for a part to come in, if it doesn't come in within 10 days they exchange the TV for a new one. The repair guy said because the 60" TV is SO new (it was the first one he'd seen) and that it was on backorder he said it was slim to none they'd get a new replacement screen in 10 days. He told me to call Samsung and tell them I don't have 10 days to waste when it's ultimately going to be the same result. When I spoke to Samsung on the phone, they didn't know what that "10 days" was about, but they confirmed that they have no replacement screens in stock for replacement. They are sending me a new TV and will take the old one. They said it will take 10-12 days. I don't know why people bitch about their customer service. I saw it as being great. I understand they have a process of trying to repair before they just jump into replacing. There are a lot of idiots who can't differentiate normal from defective. The issue with the TV isn't unbearable to see, so I've been fine waiting. Although this has given me more time to see some things. The fact that the TV doesn't have a keyboard is completely annoying. You will no doubt want a keyboard if you are going to websurf or do anything where you frequently input text. They sell one separately. The voice thing is very good, but not always completely accurate. When you go to Smart Hub right now it says they are updating their system on 4/24/12 from midnight to 5am and the service won't be available during that time, so maybe their ironing out some kinks. I've also noticed the spotlighting is a little more frequent than originally thought. Whenever the screen is black and their is white on the screen with no letterbox, you will see spotlighting. I'll revise my review if my new TV is perfect.**UPDATE** (5/12/12)So my order for replacement was processed and I was called today and they now said there are no 60 inches for replacement and they have to give me a refund. Fine. I just want to move on. I like the look of the TV and some cool features, but I was scared my new one was going to be shoddy as well after several warnings from other users. I got IRATE because the guy said my SALES TAX wouldn't be refunded in addition to my $60 shipping since I purchased straight from Samsung's employee website which is the manufacturer and not a retailer. If there is NO SALE, THERE IS NO TAX no matter who the hell you are. I hung up with him and called Executive Customer Service and got her to give me my sales tax, but I lost my $60 shipping. 12-17 business days for my refund after picking up the TV. So through all of this I got NO TV and LOST $60. Hence another revising of my review from 2 stars to 1 star. Samsung just does not have their crap together with their TVs lately and BELIEVE ME I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS TV. I learned a valuable lesson.Last bit about the TV before I'm done. You will be sitting in your room, push no buttons, just watching and the voice control menu or motion control will come up (unprompted) and turn down the volume on your TV till it goes away or you pick up the remote and close it. It's like a glitch or something. Annoying. I am telling everyone out there, this is straight up honest review. I am not a Samsung hater. I've owned several Samsung TVs in the past. I picked Samsung because I felt it had the best picture and they are a reputable manufacturer. I gave it 5 stars in the beginning! Then 5 days later, it messed up and now I have no TV and $60 less. I was PUNISHED for buying this TV. Don't let it happen to you.

4Great picture with a few drawbacks
By whickus
I had been looking at and researching HDTVs for a while and had pretty much decided on going with a plasma, due to the better viewing angle and deeper blacks. I was a bit hesitant, though, about picking up a plasma because of all the "burn-in" horror stories that have piled up over the years, so I was still hoping to find an LCD display that would blow me away while still being affordable. When I came across this Toshiba, it appeared that this would be that LCD. I made several trips to the big box whose logo looks like a big yellow tag and spent close to an hour each time comparing a few different models as best as one can in the controlled lighting of the retail environment. I was impressed with the black level, overall contrast, and picture quality of this tv. The image also appeared to be cleaner than others, with very few jaggies or digital artifacts.I ended up purchasing this tv (great deal with the free 19") and taking it home. The screen size is plenty large enough to see clearly from 10 ft away, but not too bulky to carry inside, unpack and set up by myself . It looks great and feels sturdy. The light-up Toshiba logo is a pretty nice touch, but I set it to off since it's a little distracting. There are a TON of picture adjustments available through a few standard and advanced menu options. A lot of these options are probably only available on most other sets through service menus, which are meant to be navigated by professional calibrating services. I spent the first five hours of Saturday and a few more on Sunday tweaking the picture while watching blu-rays, with my main attention on getting a good, dark black level and accurate skin tones. I got the settings dialed in to what pleases my eye and thought it looked darn good (maybe not a professional calibration, but I was very pleased with it). The sound was not as bad as I've read in some reviews. I never experienced the crackling that others have, but I also never needed to turn the volume up past 30, even sitting 10 ft away. So far, everything was great but naturally, with the good, you get the bad.The drawbacks that I experienced were more personal annoyances, I suppose, but I've read that they are inherent to LCDs (to varying degrees), and I still could not ignore them after I discovered them. The first of which is the limited viewing angle. After the hours of tweaking, the set looks incredible when viewed head on. This changed, though, when I stood up or watched as I walked around the room. The black areas turn bluish and the overall picture loses its pop. This was the case if I viewed from any other angle than sitting on the couch directly in front of it. Granted, that's where I plan on watching tv from, but if I wanted to watch from the kitchen or have guests over, it wouldn't be as enjoyable. I was kinda disappointed because I had not experienced this in the store. It's not horrible, just something I didn't like. Also, it may have been exaggerated by how good the picture looks head on. The off angle picture may be as good as last year's model, but by improving the head on picture, it doesn't look as good from the sides. Who knows. I'm also coming from decades of watching CRTs where the viewing angle does not change. I knew to watch out for this with LCDs, but I guess you just can't get away from it unless you spend a few grand on one.My other gripe was with the uneven backlight, or cloudiness, in dark areas, especially along the top and coming from the top corners ("flashlight" effect). Before purchasing this tv, I had found only one account of this occurring with this Toshiba. I had actually forgotten about it and wasn't looking for it when I noticed it myself. I didn't notice it until nighttime when I had the lights dimmed and the screen was supposed to be black. It's more apparent while performing non-viewing actions, such as switching inputs, changing channels, etc., but it is noticeable at certain times while watching movies. I didn't notice this during the day but, again, just something I didn't like. It's also possible I received a faulty display. All in all, this is a great LCD for the price. I couldn't find one in-store in the same price point that came close. Great picture, super sharp, and lots and lots of picture tweaking options. I didn't have the chance to take home any other LCDs to see if they had the same low viewing angle properties or uneven backlight that mine did, so I don't know if this Toshiba is an exception or not. I did end up exchanging it for a plasma, though, because I felt they suit my tastes better (and it turns out that burn-in is not a huge issue anymore), but for those looking for an LCD and looking to spend $1200, I would highly suggest taking a look at this one.

3picture great but sound issues
By J. mulvey
Recieved TV and delivery was great, even carried downstairs and unboxed it, great service. The picture is great but cabinet is not sufficeintly damped to prevent speakers from causing "buzziness" at volume levels above volume level 25%. I tightened all screws on back of cabinet and then applied sound damper sheet used commonly in car audio installations (I had several sheets left over, purchased from parts express) and it seems to have fixed the problem. If you take you hand and pinch the front bezel and the rear black plastic cover together and buzz disappears then try this method of fixing. Initially very upset but only took a few minutes and two sheets of damper cut up and placed across the back of TV case to fix issue. I contacted Toshiba service and they were accomodating and supplied me with local service provider information but I find it disturbing that these issues are present in a new TV from a major manufacturer. I feel that the company knew about this issue because they had me "troubleshoot" by telling me to pinch TV bezel and cover in to find where noise was coming from. TV picture quality, delivery, excellent.....sound issues are fixed so I am very happy but perplexed Toshiba would allow this level of problem out of the factory.

5EXECELLENT LCD !!!
By Nelson Hernandez
I purchased this because consumer reports rated it a " Best Buy" Saying it had picture that rivaled many more expensive models. This model beat out Sony, LG, Samsung, Sharp and other big brands in its category.Reviewers even said the picture quality rivaled LCD's costing over $2,000.I already have a Toshiba and a sharp Aquos. I love my aquos so much and didnt think picture could get much better on an LCD.......well I was wrong. This Regza blew it out of the water. The Blu-rays look stunning.I wish more channels broadcast in full 1080p. Most HD channels broadcast in 720p which is a rip off by the industry and short changes us who invest on great LCD's for optimal viewing.I love playing Nintendo WII, Playstation and X-box on this...the 120hz technology keeps blazing fast picture crystal clear and not blurred as you would see with regular 60hz sets.I just watched the movie 300 on blu-ray on this set to see how good the effects could be and I was Blown away.I couldnt be happier and out of my 3 LCD TV's this is my number 1.

5Amazing TV
By B. Porter
I have had this TV for two weeks now. Woohoo, I'm glad I waited!A little background... in October 2010 Amazon had this television at a substantial discount (<$4,000). At that price, I got a tremendous TV. I'm not sure I'd be so inclined to give it 5 stars if I paid substantially more for it. At the end of the day, you can get a 63" Samsung 3D Plasma for <$3,000. You pay a couple bucks more a year in energy costs to run the plasma and have to worry about burn-in in the first 100 hours or so, but you arguably get similar or even better picture quality for less money.More background... I'm inclined toward LCDs and specifically Samsung LCDs. I've always been scared off by potential burn-in issues on Plasmas. I've also tried Sharp and Sony LCDs briefly and never got the same brightness or saturation out of them. I own the Samsung LNT5265F 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. If you read the reviews of that set, you'll find it is one of the highest rated sets out there. I love mine.So the reason I've taken two weeks to review is that it took me that long to adjust the settings of the new 65" so that I felt they were as good as the LNT5265FX that I have downstairs. For a long time I was worried I wasn't going to be able to match the picture quality I had with that set for richness and naturalness of color. The good news is that I have indeed matched it and this set delivers the same vividness and brightness to match what is arguably the best LCD set Samsung has every made. At the end of the day, it all comes down to picture quality and if I couldn't get it as good as I have it with the 52", I was going to be disappointed. Now the other positives... the set is incredibly thin and the screen is simply huge. I watched Shrek in 3D and found the 3D effects worked great. I found that depending on your settings you may experience some cross-talk, but adjusted properly it was great. In particular, I found the dynamic motion enhancement seems to help 3D. But I haven't experimented enough with adjusting the 3D picture quality to really say definitively. The 2D->3D conversion works impressively well and my Comcast ESPN 3d channel worked great too.I've put it in game mode and the responsiveness seems comparable to a computer monitor (I have a Mac Mini hooked to the TV as well). If you read other online forums, you'll see other folks have had problems with uneven vertical light bands (this set is edge-lit from the top and bottom), flashlighting where portions of the screen burn brighter, warped bevels, and dead pixels. I have one partially dead pixel, but otherwise I've had none of these problems. If I put a very dark gray solid color screen on (easy to do with a computer) I can see some light output inconsistencies, but these disappear entirely for standard content.I also have the camera for on-board skype. Skype app works great and you can receive calls while watching TV. I'll caveat that the one skype session I did the remote party couldn't see me, but I'm not sure the reason. I'm hoping there isn't an incompatible video codec with this particular camera. For the cost though, probably would have made more sense to get a USB camera for the Mac Mini rather than bothering with Skype on the TV, though getting calls while watching is a nice feature.Overall I got what I wanted... a 3D capable 65" set with comparable picture quality to my gold-standard 52" Samsung LCD.Here are the settings I finally settled on for standard broadcast TV (YMMV):Backlight: 15Contrast: 90Brightness: 46Sharpness: 32Color: 46Tint: G44/R56Eco solution: offBlack tone: DarkestDynamic contrast: offGamma: 0Color space: nativeWhite balance: r-offset 24, g-offset 24 (all others 25)Flesh tone: 0Edge enhancement: offLed motion plus: offColor tone: warm2Digital noise filter: lowMpeg noise filter: mediumFilm mode: auto2Auto motion plus: offSmart led: standardHope this helps!

3Did not meet expectations
By Amazon shopper
I've been purchasing LCD televisions for many years. I have an old Sharp LC65D93U that I set up side by side for evaluation purposes. I also have a Panasonic VT25 unit that I used for comparison.A major benefit of LCD over PLASMA has always been the lack of reflections arising from incident lighting. This is my biggest beef with the Samsung, it is no better than PLASMA in this regard. The reflections on this screen are severe. The off angle viewing has improved from older LCD generations, but it is still poor. With a careful eye even at normal viewing distances on the large 65 inch screen, you can see these effects as you sway side to side.Defects:This is my second UN65C8000, the first had extremely bad "flash lighting" effects right out of the box. The replacement had very little. There exists on my set a small amount of spot lighting on the bottom mid-section of the screen which only becomes noticeable when watching in a completely dark room environment (visible in the black bar on the bottom when watching a widescreen movie). A more significant defect is with something I've seen on the biggest screen sizes throughout time, banding. It looks like someone took a dirty rag and swiped it across the screen top to bottom. As the camera pans quickly left-right, it becomes quite noticeable especially with certain color and texture backgrounds. Ignorance can be bliss, many people don't notice this until pointed out and I guess their superior brains just filter the defect out ... wish I weren't so caveman-like. Eventually this defect gets worked out as the technology matures, but I'm not giving Samsung a break on this. The banding I saw is more pronounced than it is on my past generation Sharp LCD. And as usual Plasma's don't seem to have any of this. Some major plusses. In side by side comparisons to a known reference (color filters etc), the Samsung's colors are much closer to true than those on my Sharp. And the contrast is significantly improved (certain shades of grey show on the Samsung were-as the Sharp can't distinguish). The power consumption, which varies a lot depending on the video content and the settings, is around 145 watts for the Samsung, a major decrease over my Sharp which is reading 380 watts for the same content. All the pixels are good, not one out that I could find. Finally, the set weighs very little and is amazingly thin. It's ideal for wall mounting, I suspect the feint spot lighting near the bottom is caused by pressure of the stand mounts on the panel.Thoughts on 3D and other special video processing options:By default, the set is configured for overly bright levels and cool un-natural tones along with a feature called "auto motion plus" enabled. The result is a very fake looking picture that few would want to stick with. To make matters worse, the motion plus setting cannot keep up with the processing demands which causes the video to skip and freeze especially where the video source is hand held and jerky (as in Modern Family). It makes an already jerky picture very distracting to watch. I found that this feature had to be disabled, to me it's like getting a few more horse power in your car but it sputters when you really accelerate ... I'll take smooth power (I thought the electronics were bad when I first got it, but thankfully you can turn this off and get proper video). The set offers cool, normal, warm1 and warm2 color settings. The warm1 option is spot on from my calibrations, though most reviewers seem to prefer warm2 ... warm2 is subdued and over saturated for my tastes. Beyond these are many specific options that can be tweaked but I feel that one config doesn't fit all content sources, and only a few of the options make meaningful improvements. Without a reference of what things should look like, making subtle tweaks is putting too much faith in the highly suggestive easily influenced human perception. The 3D is effective, but I doubt anyone of quality would stand for the glasses and the considerable un-easiness that goes with watching it. 3D is by and large unpleasant though it is a great toy to play with for the time being.Build Quality:I must admit the build quality on this set is poor. Looking closely at the unit, it has very liberal use of thin plastic and no proper restraints for cable harnessing. The HDMI connectors are unfinished and look like they were made by hand, likely to fail if you plug/unplug too many times. On all my other TV's I have never noticed build quality this low (brings to mind expectations of "made in china").The remote control is cute, but somewhat difficult to use due to the lack of button shapes to calibrate where your fingers are. I'm not put off by it because it's not going to get much use with today's content boxes which control the real media. The access to the internet etc is a useless feature for me. Today's content boxes are mostly enabled and I don't think the panel is the place for this stuff to live. The speakers on the unit are fair, suitable for quick TV watching here and there. So, overall I have very mixed feelings on this unit. The many positives are neutralized by the significant sacrifices in screen glare, banding, and minor spot lighting. For less money you can get a plasma-TV free of defects in this size with a better overall viewing experience. I would not recommend this set to a family member.

2Samsung still working out the 3D bugs
By Joe
This is an exceptional 2D set with poor quality 3D capabilities. I purchased a Samsung Blu-ray DVD and the expensive Samsung glasses. The movie they ship with the unit was used as well and the 3D quality just wasn't there. I was sorely disappointed with the blurred 3D image, almost as if you had not activated the glasses. After service replaced the main board as well as the 'T-Con' board multiple times, they determined that the unit 'appears to work as intended' even though they agreed the blurred image was not right. I unfortunately had purchased Samsung's UN55C8000 and their UN40C7000 3D TV's as well. All have the exact same issue. Even more disappointing than the 3D picture quality was Samsung's "Executive Support Team" which determined that "we're sorry, but the unit appears to be working as designed and there's nothing we can do for you."For my money, I'd strongly suggest looking at other brands to determine if anyone has truly nailed 3D yet.
